Most of the coaster ops at SFA(Md.)were lifeguards yesterday.The waterpark was closed.A guy in line said they trained for a week.They all wore their lifeguard t-shirts,polos,and even lifeguard fanny packs.And they were bronze in color.
A true ride person was posted as manager of course.

that's rather amusing!! Was the water park closed because all the lifeguards were acting as ride ops? i work at the catering department at Martin's Fantasy Island and one day we were short a whole bunch of people, so they called over some ride ops and made them serve ice cream
I think they knew they would be shorthanded.
There wasn't a lot of people at the park for August.I've watched the trip reports and it has not been very crowded at all.
The lifeguards seemed to be happy working the coasters.They worked all day. 11:00 to 6:00,and still were not grumpy.:) They were very cool!!

I bet the lifeguards did better than the regular staff. It wouldn't be to tough to do.
