Let the Knott's trips begin once more!!!

I'm going to write about my day at Knott's because the Trip Report section is in dire need of posts...

My Knott's pass expired in August, and the other day I realized that after my awesome trip to the Virginia parks and then one more to SFMM, I hadn't been on ANY coasters for two months. For someone who is used to going on coasters twice a week, this is unacceptable. To remedy the situation, I FINALLY went to renew my Knott's pass, so now I can go twice a week again!  :) YES!

Ghostrider was running the same as I remembered it. Absolutely insane. My goodness. This thing takes my breath away, and the ride ops let me have the bar up higher than usual! Airtime galor! Did I mention that my train had 4 other people on it? Well it did. 10/10

Then I walked around for a while, trying to find the "intamin track" and realized it obviously wasn't on the windjammer plot yet. Therefore, I went for a ride on Supreme Scream. Unfortunately they seated me on the side looking AWAY from where the track was, but I still got a cool ride. I have been on it more than 100 times, and it still gets my heart beating fast when I'm sitting up at the top. Those 5 seconds are insane. Unfortunately it doesn't bounce as high as it used to. 9.5/10

The Plunge was still down, but it was too cold anyway. I went on the sky tower with one dad and his two kids. I saw the Intamin track!! It is pink, or at least that's what I, being a guy, would call it. There are now 8 pieces across the street. Seeing that beautiful intamin track in my home town gave me a warm fuzzy feeling inside. Now let's all PRAY that Intamin gets it right and builds something we can all fit on! I'm not going to rate the sky tower, although it did give a nice view.

I decided to ride boomerang because it was there. It's gotten a little rough in it's years, but it's still fun and not bad considering it's over 10 years old. There were about 8 people on the ride. 6/10

Montezooma's revenge will always have a special place in my heart. What a launch! It was stronger than I remembered. There were only 4 people on the train so the ride ops waited five minutes for more people to come while rapping to each other through the microphones. It was quite "entertaining." Anyway, awesome ride, especially the ending. 9.5/10

I hit Ghostrider one more time because I always ride it last! Again, awesome ride. Did I mention it's my number 1? Well it is.

Vertigo looks like they tried to make it fit in the theming, and I think the queue works, but the ride still looks very out of place. They did the best they could, I guess. They should have put that over by big foot rapids and put the scrambler in Ghosttown, because nobody cares about the theming of Wild Water Wilderness. Oh well.

I also noticed that some of the signs now of a "thrill rating" for the ride you're about to go on. For example, the sky tower said "2--low thrill ride." Wipeout said "4--high thrill ride" That seems okay. Boomerang made me laugh with "5--Agressive thrill ride." Why the heck would you describe it as "agressive?" Oh well, it seems like a good idea, and I hope they put it all over the park. Right now it's only in the boardwalk. I also noticed all the ride ops now say "check" after checking your bar, as if saying it outloud is going to help at all. I don't understand, but I won't argue.

Overall, a great day at the park considering I only spent 1.5 hours there.

Coaster count:

Ghostrider:2

Boomerang:1

Montezooma's Revenge: 1

Sky Tower: 1 !!!!

Supreme Scream: 1

The "ratings" remind me of the little charts all rides in Ohio have, saying you should not ride if you have broken bones, are pregnant, have just had surgery, etc.  Every coaster, from Millennium Force to Adventure Express, gets the highest rating.

You can't spell "dishonorable" without "honorable."
Good to know the crowds are light. I'll be heading up there on Friday to take a look at things. Not to mention I'm having quite a Ghostrider craving...I wonder why that is? ;)

Dang, my new job has me commuting WAY too long.  By the time I get back to Orange County Knott's is closed (usuallu 6 pm) I miss my after work Ghostrider fixes.  I think I need to go this Saturday.

About the new Intamin, I couldn't agree more.  The last thing KBF (or Southern California, for that matter) needs is another prototype that opens late or has lots of downtime.  I know you are more concerned with the max height limit.  Knott's has an opportunity to have the best 1:2 wood / steel punch combo ever.  NO WINDJAMMER repeats, please!

I convinced my department to take us to KBF for a release party a couple Fridays ago. Ghostrider was walk-on city! I'm still grinning from ear to ear after my session(s). What a tremendous coaster! Off dah hook!
