LeSourdsville Lake will open on Friday, June 7, at 5 p.m. for a sneak peak. All rides, parking, games and food items to be $1 each during the opening Sneak Peek Weekend. The park was supposed to open today, but a power outage affecting training schedules has caused delays.

Very much rejoicing, Brad!
I for one had just about written the park off, lamenting that I may never get to fly Eagle Airlines again :)
I know I will be there at 5pm to welcome the park back into operation. I encourage all my Coasterbuzz friends to come and help me welcome the Eagle back into comission.

Why should I believe the park will open Friday?
As I write this (22:40 EDT 6/6/02), The web site http://www.lesourdsvillelake.com/ still advertises the opening as 6/6. I called this afternoon at 16:40 EDT to the phone number listed on the site (513-539-2193); got a message offering to allow me to leave a message for group sales, marketing, or general, but no notice of a change to the opening date as it was listed on the web site, on Dayton television news, and in the Dayton Daily News.
I brought my 4 year old twin sons to the opening of a new amusement park. It is not easy to explain to crying children that we can't go in because the people who own the park lied.
I understand delays. No problem. I cannot forgive a failure to alert potential customers my any means other than coincidentally noticing the story on Cinicinnati Television. There is no excuse for preventing me from finding out that the opening date had changed.
And my car was not the only one to leave full of crying children; I counted 4 others in the time it took us to walk up to the gates in order to confirm that not only was there no staff in evidence, there wasn't so much as a notice or apology as to what had happened posted.
LeSourdsville Lake was my first park; the little dipper my first coaster, the Eagle (then Space Rocket) my second. I wanted it back open very much. Too bad incompentent communications blew it.
I'd send them e-mail, but the posted address is invalid.
Disappointed, perhaps terminally-

Again, I am not disappointed at the failure to open. That can happen for many reasons, and I understand and respect all of them.
I can't come up with any reason other than incompetence for failure to update both the web site and the telephone message. All of the official information points made available by the park itself listed 6/6; they still do as of right now (7:40 EDT 6/7).
I'll stick with my assertion that there can be no excuse for updating the phone message as an absolute minimum; a park really making the effort to win guests would have also posted signs (or better yet, minimal staff) at the park itself to offer explainations and apologies to those who came out to no purpose.

Another update i(Cincinnati's website), it still says the park opens today but it gives a little more information:
http://cincinnati.com/freetime/060702_lesourdsville.html
It confirms the Tip Top and the Musik Express, and notes that the Swinging Pirate Ship will not be functional for sneak-preview weekends. (The Zipper, Pirate ship and funhouse had already been confirmed)
Funny it mentions the Skyride and Super Slide as being new. I recall the park having those two rides, I wonder if they totally replaced them with new ones. It also mentions the Log Flume will be open. Folks, this is the wettest Log Flume you will ever ride. Wetter than Dudley Do-Right.
The parks new sit-down restaurant will not be open for sneak preview (Italian cuisine).
The Calypso is also not ready as it is receiving a dance floor theme, per the artilce.
The grand opening is on June 22, (sneak previews start tonght) and the article says they have engaged the Van Dells in concert for the grand opening.
As the article states the park isn't 100% ready, but he's not charging 100% admission either, but they hope to have 30 (of 36) rides open tongiht.
7 hours to go folks!
