LeSourdsville Lake question

crazy horse's avatar
We are planing a trip to kings island this summer, and would like to stop by LeSourdsville Lake. We would like to get a brocure on the park. I tried calling the number, but the number on the web site is not valid. My question is....is there anether number where I can reach them at?. Also would the park be worth spending a whole day, or just a few hours? Any info would be helpfull.
Well, there is question on whether or not the park is even going to open for 2003, does anybody know if they are or not?

I honesly don't think the park owner knows for certain whether the park will open for 2003 or not...

He has said repeatedly that he was planning to open for 2003, but several people recently attempted to get information about opening dates this season and had no success at all.

Really?......I thought that I herd somewhere that they did better than they thought they would do last year.
They did. Then with a week to go in the season, the park owner shut the place down, cancelled the planned Halloween event, and fired the management company.

Everything I saw indicated that the park was doing remarkably well last season, not only having a reasonable season, but quite possibly having the best season in a number of operating seasons. It is reasonable to assume that there were other reasons for the park's closing this time around. Look at what the owner did, and draw your own conclusions as to what happened.

I believe Chuck has been following this closely.

I hope the park opens too. I am also planning a trip to PKI and would like to make a quick stop at LeSourdsville to get a credit on the Eagle.

Rideman, you're correct. It had more to do with who was running the park than anything else.I don't know the details of the management agreement, but obviously there were issues that concerned Mr. Couch enough to terminate the contract before the end of the operating season. IMO, I would question the choice of hiring a person who just bankrupted one of the largest carnivals in the midwest to run the park. We may never know why.
Jerry Couch's two biggest problems with Pugh were that they were not going to let him open his camper buisnees on site and by the end of the season the park was bouncing checks. Most of which were written to the employees.

I am hoping it reopens. LeSourdsville was a VERY nice surprise when I visited last year for the first time.

The SCreechin Eagle is by far one of the most insane woodies on earth.

I got a email from the guy who was supposed to take over managment of the park in a reply to a message is sent him. It said that he regrets to inform me that he had to resign from the position for personal reason and has no bad relationship with the couches whatsoever.

Couch is also marketing the park with his camper sales. I don't know how this is working.

You can find the latest about Lesourdsville lake by going to the message boards on this site. http://americanaamusementpark.com/html

Chuck, who if he were to give you his honest opinion, IT WON'T be open for 2003 but the park has been virtually all painted and beautified and is in good shape so who knows. I just can't get any info from anywhere including stopping at the park and couch campers.

It is my personal belief that Lesourdsville Lake is closed for 2003. I'll let you know if anything is announced.

Thank you for your continued reports, Chuck. It's too bad that you have to be the bearer of apparent bad news.

Spring has arrived in Ohio...the Orange Barrels are blooming

My wife and I went to LeSourdsville Lake last summer and had a wonderful time. Although it is a little out of the way, it is well worth a trip just to ride John Miller's Screechin' Eagle. I can't remember being on a roller coaster with so much air time. I dare say that it is one of the best woodies in the state of Ohio.

The other roller coaster is an old SDC Galaxi ride, called the Serpent, which is pretty good. They also have a bunch of carnival rides that are nothing special.

The only other attraction that was interesting was a fully operational Whip ride. This was once a staple attraction of amusement parks decades ago but are almost extinct today.

I really hope LL can keep operating for years to come.

I sure do hope that they reopen this summer. Its one of them parks where you say your going to visit, but never do. If they do reopen this summer, I will be one of the first in line....forsure!!!.
I have visited amercania/LL many times. Its always been a fun trip. Last summer brought back memories for me. I had not been there since it closed back in 99 and I always wanted to ride eagle again. Well I road it close to 24 times :)

I hope it reopens very soon.

Waiting for the season to start.
Visit History of PKI!

I really liked my visits to LL last season although that whip ride really needs to be sped up!

It's a great park and I'm very concerned about it.
