LeSourdsville Lake-8/2 Screechin Eagle!

Associated parks:
None

I will do the rides in the order you come to them in the park except for the last few, but only talk about them once.

My girlfriend and I were dropped off at the drop off about 2:40 at the drop off area paid our very reasonable 18.75 and got in. First we hopped on the

Serpent 2 rides
This is a small S.D.C. coaster and it's got alot of speed. I loved the triple helix into double helix on this ride, it was really fun, and worth the one train waits both times. Nice little kiddie coaster. We than walked down torwards the shorter walk and onto the
9/10
Pirat 1 ride
Small ride and decent swinging ship. It was fun, get's more air than PKI's
7/10 Great swinging ship
Flying Skooters 1 ride
Not fun compared to PKI's and quite boring due to low snappability
Zipper 2 rides
This ride is great and sure packs a punch. It's really dissorrienting, but I couldn't quite get down how to flip it, I got a couple good ones though. It's a great ride, and should not be missed as any other ride should not. This is one of my favorites. On down the lake to...
10/10
Musik Express 1 ride
This was my first Musik Express and I wasn't real pleased, it was an ok ride, and was all speed, but I dispise rap music the ride was real fast and looks great at night, but really smashed my ribs and legs.
5/10
Whip 1 Ride
I remember riding this ride and as it is being a small ride it's fairly decent for being so old. I liked it but opted not to do it again later.
7/10
The Granddaddy of the Park Screechin Eagle 17 RIDES!
I rode in all of the open 8 seats once. Rode 3 in the front 2 in the back and 4 in the second to back. I was mad when I was told I couldn't get on because of my wet clothes, but the op just let me on anyways. Great crew, even though all one of them did was smoke all day. I must say this is amazing in the day and even more amazing at night, I don't think you can compair this to Beast because it is airtime as compared to speed. It is great at night and I don't regret waiting the one train I had to several times. Thank the god for John Allen.
10/10 my new #2 woodie.
Slide 3 rides/slides
Pretty fun little slide I won against my gf 2 times out of the three through the day. Great small ride and was pretty tall.
6/10 It's not like it's real thrilling
Infernal Combustion Funhouse 3 walks
Wow a great funhouse much better than the Alpine one at the fair. It's not that long and the third time hardly any of the mechanical effects were working. It's still a good funhouse and one of my favorites
5/10 It's just a funhouse.
Calypso 1 ride
Rode this once at night, it's nothing real thrilling, just a good ride and it's pretty fast too. Definitely a good ride, but it was only open the last hour the park was open when I saw it from the Screechin Eagle.
6/10 not to bad not to bad
Magic Show
Saw the 7 o' clock show pretty good I think, nothing great but if you aren't a ride person a must see.
9/10 gotta give the small shows credit
Electric Rainbow 1 ride
I nicknamed this Satan's Rainbow, he left the ride on way to long making me feel really nauseated and kind of hurt my day a bit, I kept getting sick on all of the flats and my stomach hurt for almost a half hour after, my neck was very sore and they need to shorten the ride and put new neck padding on it.
1/10 hurt the day a little
Train 2 trips across to Logger's Run
Eh, compared to PKI's train it's crappy, it has a car horn, and uses a diesel start up engine
3/10 saved some walking.
Thunder Run 2 drenching wet rides
Ummm wow, as I right this trip report about 4 hours after I rode it the last time my pants are still a little damp. You will get drenched. It's almost more of a White Water Rapids ride than a Log Flume, this is a can't miss and definitely one of the park's best.
10/10 Very good log flume.
Scrambler
Real fast and comfortable scrambler, I was still feeling sick after "Satan's Rainbow" though. All I can say is this is a good Scrambler and my favorite, needs to be a lil more comfy though
8/10 good ride.
Rock-O-Planes 2 rides
This is the ride that really scared my girlfriend. You can hang straight down almost the whole ride it's a little uncomfortable on the thighs, but I love it
9/10 It feels good to hang straight down by just your thigh.
Sky Ride 1 ride
Nice small sky ride, nothing thrilling just peacefull. I liked it as a cool down from all the spinning ride
6/10 nothing great
Tilt-A-Whirl
Pretty fun ride, never ridden one that I can remember
7/10 I like spinning.

The drinks were very affordable
1.25 for a 16 oz lemonade that was quite tasty back in Logger's Run
1.00 for a small fountain refillable drink in the Italian Diner at the front of the park
The games were very very very affordable and they tend to lean if you don't get what you want such as on the ring toss over by Tip Top (closed?) My girlfriend wanted a bear bad, you can only get one prize and I hit the smaller thing about 3 times and the person just waited until I got the bear one.
The person at the dart toss at the beginning gave my gf a 4 hit prize when she only hit 1 baloon.
Also a guy gave me 8 balls for $3 on the game where you hit the cat looking things with a ball.

Service:
9/10 there was 1 rude person the whole day. He was on Serpent and he was rude to some little kids, but it's not to bad. The other problem was Electric Rainbow which was very poorly managed
Food:
???? drinks were reasonable I didn't eat though do to Electric Rainbow making me nautious for the whole day basically.
Rides:
8/10 I think that if Tip Top (dunno what it is) and some ride with a Mountain Dew billboard would have been operating it would have been a little more interesting. Also, again Electric Rainbow was painful very painful. Also I believe that they could use another small coaster (small looper maybe, I'm sure they could find room somewhere)
Overall rating:
9/10 one of my fav woodies, and lots of good flats, great service, fun people, and good prices. If your at PKI take an extra half day and come on Thurs. Fri Sat or Sunday, you won't regret it and also don't be expecting to high on the eagle, you might not like it as much.

Great trip report! On the way home from my coaster trip Im debating wheter or not to stop at Lesourdsville Lake. Screechin Eagle SURE sounds nice!
Screechin Eagle sounds sweet! Lesourdsville Lake sounds like a great park. Nice TR.

So I take it your #1 woody is The Beast? Have you ridden Big Dipper at Sfwoa? If so I'd like to know how it compares to the Screechin Eagle. I prefer airtime to speed so my favorite woody is by far Ghostrider....the first half of Beast just bores me usually.

Nice TR. I'm hoping to go there next year. I haven't been to PKI in 2 years. And I've never been to Americana/Lesourdsville!! So it's likely......MmmMmm Skyline Chili/ Montgomery Inn Ribs.....MmmMmm.

Coasting Ohio, The Eagle is 100 times better then Big Dipper. It is smooth as glass. The pacing is well a little odd but I was there a couple days after it reopened so I am sure it is much faster now. The air is amazing and the drop off the turnaround is to die for.

-----------------
All I need is 4.5 million bucks and a half a mile long sliver of land and maybe someone could build me my very own Shivering Timbers. ;)

Ya, my butt did not touch the seat more than 5 seconds total the second half of the ride. It's truly a great ride. The only problem with LeSourdsville is the old chili stands and everything else is gone. You have all food from there, didn't care to try anything though. I would say make a stop, at 18.75 per person it's not that bad.

I wish they would let you just get ride tickets, and enter the park for free. Or even better, like Kennywood, and a lot of other places, offer both. So you could either pay the $18.75 or you can pay a certain amount for ride tickets. Because I know since that's the only ride at the park we'd do, it wouldn't really be worth staying all day. They wouldn't want to stay that long anyway. Maybe 10 rides and they would be out.

Oh well, still hope I get to go there.

Yea and it would be worth it to just pay for the ride pass to ride Eagle 10 times, plus the log flume is worth a ride, you will get drenched though.

The "Mountain Dew" ride is the "Windjammer" (Reverchon Explorer) from the Santa Cruz Beach Boardwalk. Its virtually the same as the ARM Quasars you see a carnivals

One major correction to your TR:

Eagle is a John Miller and not John Allen.

Other than that, Nice TR and glad you had fun.

Chuck, who says them flyers are evil! Why? Because they are snappable as hard as any other flyers out there only there is a certain trick, STEER BACKWARDS! Yup, Steer in while going up and Steer out when going down. Other than that I think they are far better than PKI's 2 minute cycle cause I have gotten several rides on LL's Flyers over 10 minutes. :)

Ok I convinced my dad to make a 2 hour stop at Lesourdsville Lake. Screechin Eagle here I come :)

LeSourdsville Lake is so much fun. The Screechin' Eagle is also my new #2 woodie :)

Be sure not to miss Raging Thunder -- it's really a rapids ride disguised as a log flume! ;)

Really Chuck you have to steer backwards? Thanks for the tip next time I go I'll ride them and do that. I know it's a John Miller not Allen, I was thinking wrong at the time.

Ninja, The trick, (As in all flyers is to really not let your tub turn all the way out or in) You make big swoops rather than all the way straight up or all the way straight down. you do this by steering down when going up if the tub begins to turn straight to the sky. You also after you start a hard dive turn the wing out to stall.

Chuck, who will be at Screechfest Saturday 9/10 to give lessons to anyone and I don't mean that as showing off, I will show you how to do it. (Works on every flyer including the 8 tub models).

Well that is sweet as hell. I think next years looking good for that trip. I should have a car by next summer too. So maybe I can go down there with a friend or two, and maybe one of you guys could tag along. That'd be pretty sweet. Go for a day to Pki, then half a day or even a full one at Lesourdsville! Heck, why not swing up to Kennywood. Hey and while were at it, I'd like to go to Knoebels too, lol. Sweet as hell. I think we're going to MiA, IB, and HW next year as our family trip. Next year is going to be crazy with wood coasters.
