Lesourdsville Americana/Coney Island 8-3

Associated parks:
None

A little late getting a TR in but what heck. I decided early in the year that if Americana opened I would visit and then hit PKI in the same weekend. So here's quick recap.

An extra thing to mention is that while down in Cincinnati we hit coney island for count on there one coaster and then went on to Americana. It wasn't the greatest coaster but we had to try it. The park was nice and had some good flat rides and games but we only stayed about half an hour and left. We got there right before it opened at eleven and their

water park was already packed.

So off to Americana.

This was a nice park and good sized. They have a lot of flat rides and a couple of good coasters. The galaxi was very good because they run a 2 car train and that makes it much faster. Next we hit the Zipper. I have been to over 40 parks and I had never ridden one. This thing was great except I lost all the change out of my pocket.

Next we had to hit the SE. This is a mid -sized coaster with alot of air especially on the front. I reminds me of the Phoenix and the Legend(Iowa) in that it is not very fast but the design gives alot of airtime ,some ejector. A lot of people say its the best coaster in Ohio but I won't go that far. It's just a good mid sized not quite as good as the 2 I just mentioned.

We then walked the rest of the park after about 6 walk on rides on SE. We rode the whip, the ship, the fun house, the sky ride, the slide and then that fun house about 3 more times. We tried to get on the kiddie coaster but got denied.

We then took a few more walk on spins on SE and that was about it. We were only there about 3 hours.

We hit the gift shop and looked through all the souvienirs. It seemed that almost everything they had said Americana on it. I'm not complaining, but why did they change the name of the park? I mean the only thing that says Lesourdsville lake on it is the front entrance sign. The trash cans all say Americana and a lot of other things have it written on it. It didn't make sense to me to change it but what do I know. Any way we had a good conversation with the lady running the gift shop. She told us some guy from California had visited the park the day before and bought $150 worth of stuff that said Americana on it. He bought multiple pieces of the same things. Look out Ebay. We asked her about the light crowds and she said that it has been that way all year. She said that the people running the park are not advertising and that nobody knows it's open. I encountered the same thing when I asked my Aunt who has lived in Cincinnati for 20 years if she knew about the park re-opening and she said that she never heard a thing.

This park is really nice but it is not going to make it if the people don't show up so give it a visit.

They are making money though I am sure of it, if they weren't they wouldn't leave the park open. ALot of people would rather go to PKI, but I would rather go to LL a couple more times. Also, I woulnd't say it beats Beast or SoB but it's better than Racer. My #3 wood.

Did you ride the flume?

Lesourdsville is doing well, Just because it dosn't seem like it's busy dosn't mean they are doing bad.

The park is bigger than people think it is. There is a back section to the park that you aparently didn't get to with a Rock O plane- Scrambler, A Windjammer, And the worlds best log flume.

Trust me, The park is doing well, Every time I have been there there have been several hundred guest.

This compared to 50 people in the park on my visit in '98

The park right now dosn't have much picnic buisness so as that picks up so will the park.

Chuck, who was actually surprised to see two other company picnic's going durring Screechfest :)

Thanks For visiting!

I have a theory that this year was a "Let's get the park open, we can implement our plans for the park next year. the fact that the Pugh's had a slew of rides and other midway equipment sitting around helped to make the opening a big event.

As i see the park getting better and better each visit, I can't help but wonder "If they can do that much in three days, what will they be able to accomplish this fall when they go down to 2 days a week, and then in the off-season.

Hold on to your lapbars, boys and girls!
