Merlin Entertainments Group, the corporate owner of the Legoland Florida theme park, has applied to Polk County for an exemption from a county code banning sale and consumption of alcoholic beverages within 1,000 feet of a school or church. At least two churches are inside that radius from the park's boundaries, according to Merlin's application packet.
