Legends Lap Bar

Here's a link showing pictures of Legends old Lapbar. Looks like someone got one somehow.

One of the old lap bars was auctioned off at Eastcoaster this past weekend. The park is putting new wheels as well on The Legend, along with new bumber cars(one of the old ones is up for auction on ebay right now) and other capitol improvements including more bathrooms and 'waterless' urinals in the mens room.

Excellent move replacing the lap bars - I'm sure I would have enjoyed the Legend much more had my legs not taken such a beating on the turns.

Here's what the new lapbars look like. They're apparently installing them on all of the Gerstlauer trains:

This one is more comfortable with the flat outside bar. Surprisingly, the extra inch or two makes a real difference, and the flat surface is easier on your leg.

Isn't it amazing what seventy dollars will buy? As of now,the aforementioned lap bar is setting in the hallway waiting to find a permanent home. Fortunately, I didn't have to carry it on a plane like Paula did. It is just too bad that the folks at Hershey's Chocolate World didn't share my enthusiasm when I asked to take it on their "factory tour" ride. Thank you for the interest and support, coastersbysteve

Those old lap bars were the only bad things ive heard about CCI. So the new ones are going on ALL of the Gerstaluer trains? That will be great if they get them on Hurricane at MBP, I didn't get to ride it in 2000 but I will in 2001.
Well, those lap bars aren't really CCI's doings. CCI just builds the coasters. Some of their creations have Gerstlauer trains (ex. Villain), some have PTC (ex. Shivering Timbers).

From what I have gleaned from various conversations, CCI is marketing their coasters as a pakage deal, complete with Gerstlauter trains, unless a park really insists on PTC's.

Funny thing about the Hurricane - even though it has the same "staple" bars as the Legend and Villain used to, and the 'Cane's helices are about the tighest and most intense you'll ever see, I didn't even notice them. Absolutely no "leg-banging", which is a tribute to the sweetness of this coaster and its impeccable trackwork. A real gem.
