launch or lift??

just wandering which you *prefer*. this can be avoided as a vs. topic just dont turn it into one! im just interested in whether or not you like a coaster with a big drop to get things going, or the sudden speed from ground level. i personally like drops more because it sometimes gets a little thrilling when you are really high...and the airtime on steep hyper-coaster drops.

I have to agree with you, but I have nothing against a launched coaster.

I prefer riding both launched and lift, Lift better. I like it more be cause depending the perticular coaster you get a nice few of the park or seanery in the area, on some launched coasters you dont get time to see the seanery, Also on a lift coaster you can see some of the track layout before hand. The finaly reason why I prefer lift better is because the first roller coasters were lift coasters and it seems more "oringinal" then a launched coaster. But I also like launched coasters for there own reasons.

I love them both. But to tell you the truth the best would have to be both. Being launched over the top of the hill has got to be awesome. One example is MF. Even tho its only 13 mph over the hill and its not really a launch. Its still an example of having the speed over the hill. As for TA2K's, those are perfect examples.

But sometimes I do like being slowly carried to the top and then dropped.

I like the lift. I mean the anticipation before that first drop is great. MF to me is a launch (its really a lift) because you get to the top so fast that you really don't get to look around or get read for the drop.

Lift hills seem to be half the ride and get your stomach churning before your ready to blow chunks on Mind Eraser or scream down the first drop of Superman:Ride of Steel. Don't mind me, it's the New England Fever.

Today's luanched coasters are good, but to short to provide the full elements to rank up to the lift coasters.

i did a topic back in the fall on this....but its all good:) we all gotta post now and then....me, i prefer lift. launches are great, and im always in the mood for a good LIM coaster now and then, but give me rickety rack or give me death!! haha :)

Tim (who admits how lame it is to take the great finish of Patrick Henry's speech and put a coaster spin on it...and even more admits that he just doesnt care :))

I personally like lift better because it builds anticipation. But then again, waiting for the initial launch is very freaky also. I guess I like both of them, each offer a unique experience.

I deffintly like lift better theres no way better to start a coaster than with an awesome drop. Launches aren't bad either.

I forgot to mention nothing beats the sounds of a lift hill and the sounds it makes when it crests the lift hill.
