Latest news on Vertigo

Anyone know the latest?  I heard yesterday from someone that received the 2002 CP press packet that the atrraction is not mentioned, with the exception of one very minor blurb.

Did they replace it?  Will it still be there?  Did they remove it?

What's "up" with Vertigo?  Pun intended

The brochure in the press kit (which you can already find at hotels and such, apparently) does not mention Vertigo, but that's because they don't have any results from the testing. With printing lead times and distribution times, they probably made the right choice in not publishing it.

However I wouldn't take that as a sign of anything.

"As far as I can tell it doesn't matter who you are. If you can believe, there's something worth fighting for..." - Garbage, "Parade"

I did notice that the only time that Vertigo was mentioned in the Press kit was when they did a fact sheet on Challenge Park. That was it. Nothing in the brochure. The paper on Challenge park mentioned the different choices for riders and states that it is "The Latest in ultimate thrills!"

What goes up Must Come Down, Lets hope it comes down really fast!
It would be a shame if it didn't reopen.  I doubt CP and SS would let that happen, though.

After seeing exactly how it worked (I had only seen it from Magnum until then) and how the seats rotate, it's definatly a must ride IMO.

No, the Knott's VertiGo and SFMM ThrillShot are still currently closed.
The link on the web site is gone to. But as of Feb.8th. on the WT constrution pics. you can see the two towers are still there.

I hope they figure out what happened and get it up and running again. I will be there in late June-early July and i definetly want to ride it.

I may be from IL, but i sure can't get enough of the FORCE. MF!!!
The good news, of course, is that while the two California rides are still closed, neither of them has fallen down yet, either. :)

Who still thinks they could have done the ride with one big tower and made it better...
Couldn't agree with you more,RideMan. Last time we were up at Magic Mountain was just after the failure at CP. Took a good close look at theirs (which was shut down). I agree with you about the break point. Just about where the first joint is. Educated guess, I'd say fastner failure compounded by the weather conditions at the time.

Love that level of optimism there, Dave...LOL.  At least they're still "Vertigol"...
Dave... I'm trying to visualize your single-tower concept... I must be more tired than I thought because I'm having difficulty seeing it!
Easy. Take the 'Absolutely Inane' ride tub and wrap it around a Space Shot tower and hook it to the Space Shot ride mechanism.

Because the Space Shot has better control over the ride tub than the 3-tower thingy, you could probably get stronger forces out of it, too...
