Las Vegas Wet plans to add a classic woodie! :)

Anyone think that if this is built it wil be a little slower in the evenings and at night because the drastic change of tempatures between the night and during the day.

I'm not sure how the desert climate would affect the coaster. I imagine that humidity plays a big role, but the heat in Vegas is usually pretty dry. Aren't there a few wood coasters in India? Is India's climate at all like Vegas?

It's Jerry "The Shark" Tarkanian's basketball camp.

Hi Everyone,

I've enjoyed reading your comments. Believe me, the heat (and cold and wind) are all factors we are considering in the design of the coaster. We are working with three different manufacturers at the moment to get bids from each, and materials are key (as with all the other attractions).

Obviously, something of this scope takes time and a LOT of people, and I would like to invite everyone in this forum to put in their two cents worth. Your ideas and suggestions are important to us, and we will make sure that everything we use will be credited to the brains behind it.

I learned a long time ago that many decisions in this industry are made by middle-aged guys. I always thought I would never be that way, but now, hey, I'm middle aged and realize that I don't know everything like I did in my youth. So, if you have an idea or suggestion, whether related to the wooden coaster or other attractions, please, drop us a note to darlene@proteuscreative.net and she will make sure the right people get it.

Thanks!

Steve - If you have not done so already I'd suggest doing more than talking to companies and taking bids: go ride! Go ride wooden coasters from Great Coasters, Gravity Group, Intamin and other companies. Get a real feel for them. Talk to the parks who own them; talk to the maintenance crews who work on them; talk to the people coming down the exit ramp; and talk to those of us who spend every summer riding ;)

But keep this in mind when asking us for our opinions or suggestions [which is a very generous thing]: 100 enthusiasts will give you 100 different opinions on what you should build.

Good luck with your project!

Matthew

You should have a winner with either Great Coasters International, The Gravity Group or an Intamin Wooden Coaster.

Steve check out this website:

www.holidayworld.com

It is home to the world's greatest ride!

And the builder:

www.thegravitygroup.com

Also check out some of the perks Holiday World gives to their guests. I'm sure they would go over really well in a hot climate like Vegas.

Also try to break the steepness record for a wood coaster which will now be 77 degrees at Everland in Korea. I also sent my suggestions to Darlene. So try to top Voyage if possible and I will MOVE to your park!! :)

It is a FACT that The Voyage is the greatest thing on the planet!!
Another vote here for Gravity Group. Major airtime, major innovation, major intensity and fun.

Chattanooga needs a ITG2 Machine!
But will TGG do two coasters in one year, they sure havent yet.

Hey Rob, you ever talk to your neighbors since moving to Vegas? LOL, he's kinda like the Wayne Newton of hoops in your town... ;)

Hot and dry do NOT make for ideal conditions for treated lumber...have to wonder, though, if the prefab Intamin trackwork might not make for a more "maintainable" ride...

edit: For that reason alone, I'd probably be most likely to consider GCII or perhaps the prefab track...as much as I love TGG (and I do, like you wouldn't believe), it *might* make for a lot of work for the maintenance crew...

To provide some ballance, I think Intamin's El Toro at Six Flags Great Adventure is by far the best woodie in the US. My $.02 from another middle-aged man, confirming Mamoosh's observation that 100 enthusiasts will give you 100 different suggests.

These guys rock, IMO! Can't wait for this to be a reality. Check out the link at the bottom concerning the America in Miniature project. :) *** Edited 8/11/2007 10:19:26 PM UTC by Robocoaster***
