Las Vegas getting back to adult entertainment

Posted | Contributed by Jeff

The buzzword in Sin City is adult, with a capital A. Not only are the resort casinos raising the stakes with unique and elaborate entertainment like Dion's show, which combines her singing with the artistry of Cirque du Soleil, but they want to remind you that what happens in Vegas stays in Vegas. Sexy bathrooms and pirate shows are quickly taking the place of theme park-style attractions.

^^^Wow, almost an exact quote from the 7 gazillion Travel Channel shows on Vegas. How many time do you have to watch them to know that spiel almost by heart? :)

That'd be pretty pointless for me I guess because I'm not much of a gambler. If you read my TR, you know we spent only $2.50 on nickle slots. Who has time to gamble when there are rides to ride, people to watch, alcohol to drink and free shows all over the place?

DELETED! What time does the water show start?

Lord Gonchar- i must have fallen asleep after a coaster show and it sunk in under osmosis (seriously- every time i flip past the travel channel there is a show about vegas).

Actually, im not the gambler. I've never lost over $100 on any trip- if i did i'd be really p'od with myself. However, my girlfriend is a different story. But it works out well-she hits the blackjack table, I hit the rides, the $1 beers and we meet at the pool.

Anyways, betting more just to get comps is pretty stupid and a pretty good way to loose money. Comps only exist as a way to keep people betting longer- the longer you bet, the worse the better odds for the house. However, if you really like a hotel- I would definitely sign up for their slot club- with little betting i've already gotten special deals on rooms.

I don't gamble, but I get special room rates from time to time in the mail and from the web. I recently got a special for rooms at Stateline/Primm Nv. for $19 bucks a night Sunday thru Thursday, and a little more on the weekends. A ride on Desparado before bed is quite the nightcap!

You do not have to bet a lot to gain comps. Heck, we never hit anything more than the $5 table games, and I play nickle slots! It's more your "presence" at the games and slots. Obviously you aren't going to get free rooms at Bellagio unless you play for a while there because their rooms are much more expensive.

Every nickle placed into a slot machine, or replayed from winnings counts towards a comp. Just using a card at the slots or tables, or being "rated" for sitting at a blackjack table for even an hour only spending $20 is counted.

And "new" players tend to get special comps because the casino wants to bring you back. Our first trip, my gambling fund was $100. Two months after we returned, we were getting offers in the mail from the casinos we visited of free rooms for 2-3 days plus meals.

the point is you do not have to spend a lot gambling, just make sure your presence is known to the casino.

Thanks C.P. Lady! I believed you had to spend more with those slot/club card memberships to get comps. No place like 'Vegas baby!! Just a 300+ foot tall mega coaster like "Steel Dragon 2000" or "Millenium Force" with loads of airtime and I'm sure 'Vegas will reel in a lot more visitors!
