Land clearing at PKI

I think I saw something about this before but I can't find it any more. I was at PKI the other day and while in line for the Beast I was able to see land clearing going on back behind TR:TR. Does anyone know whats going on?

Knowing King's Island, it won't be anything exciting. Don't get your hopes up for a super dooper, eleven looper, fantastic 400' flying/floorless coaster that goes 120 MPH.

IF anything at all, PKI needs to get some REAL family rides - something REALLY exciting for the whole family, not just the kids. Not a kiddie themed haunted ride, not a miniature suspended coaster, not a log flume re-themed to kiddie themes. They NEED more rides like Adventure Express, only perhaps make it a water coaster, but PLEASE no more super thrilling extreme puke machines they have focused on so much in recent years.

Well next year they're gonna get a Giant huss Frisbee where KC once stood............

Gas to get to PKI, $5.60. ACE card for walkback, $50.00. Meeting up with Beastnum1 and drinking 20 lemonjuice packets, priceless

And Scooby is coming next year, don't forget Scooby :)

Lake Compounce-So Fresh and So Clean Clean

Are you sure its newly cleared land? The hydro flume that used to be there used a larger amount of space than TR:TR uses now. Might be left over.

Coasters in 2002: 62
New-to-me: 32 (New in 02: 3)
Total Coasters: 92

It never went that far, I believe it's where the fireworks were shot off this year.

Its got yellow tape kind of blocking it off. I thought the fireworks were farther back. Thats so close to TR:TR that all the fire works would be hitting the building

The land clearing behind TR:TR was from Kneton`s Cove Keelboat Canal. However, PKI just planted grass over the dirt that was not paves or used for Tomb Raider. Now, I know that back in the back that they did have yellow tape with something laying on the ground (visible, as stated above, from the Beast line). However, when you ride the train to get a closer look you can see the yellow tape but nothing more. I don`tthink its a land clearing for a new ride, at least not for next year! Also, I would consider Scooby Doo and the Haunted Castle a family ride, not a kiddie rides. Also, what`s wrong with a log flume themed to a cartoon? I personally like the log flume, because PKI took the time and money to save a ride older than the park (originally stood at Coney Island) and because its a fun ride, except for that darn elephant!

I went to PKI for the first time this week. What was located in the fenced off area by Drop Zone? Is this the location you are talking about?

We are talking about a place way on the other end of the park behind TR:TR.
Timberguy, I don't know of a fact, but I believe thats where King Cobra was. If you look through the boards, you can still see the footers and old queue/exit.

Yes I'm 15, no I'm not childish, I'm not being sarcastic, well maybe I do have somewhat of an ego...

Correct. From Drop Zone you can see several footers and the que. I just am not too familiar with this park so I have no idea what was there.
There has been cleared behind TR since it was built. The land is deffently not a spot for a new ride. I think it was put there during construction, and was never changed.

Ummmmm.. are you talking about Kings Island? I think that PKI is the best FAMILY park. How do you explain Hanna Barberra land? Rides like the Racers and adventure express. When I go to PKI with my family we all look forward to riding some of the coasters together because they arent too scary for the little ones.

Sit up right, hold on tight!

I think that we need more rides for adults, we have TONS of family rides. I think there is something going back there, the dirt has been turned up and the thigns that used to be back there are gone.

The worst day at Cedar Point is better than the best day at work.

Ya Kings Island is probally one of the better family parks out there. They need a good quality coaster. They have like what 5 kids coasters and like 2 o3 in between coasters. They need some bigger things. I know the themeing is great on TR:TR but geez to go out and spend over 40 million(Thats what I heard) on a top spin with good themeing is just not a good move. It will pull in first time riders but everyone I know has rode it once and that is enough for them. I would have been happy with a plain top spin with no themeing at all. If TR:TR was 40 million they could have built like a clone of MF or somethin and it would have been a better investment. But now I would rather see nothing at all in 2003 but then get a top 10 stand out steel. There best steel right now is FOF and thats not saying much. And vortex, rip this p.o.s. out geez i hate it. And does anyone know what was under those black tarps or where they went?
The black tarps are gone, Flight of Fear is excellent and not bad steel at all, it's probably one of tehe better launched loopers, Vortex is fun if you don't bang your head and Tomb Raider was closer to 14, thats not 40 million worth of theming. I think we will get great airtime steel in 2004 though.

I'm not too familiar w/ PKI...
Just curious, they removed one log flume for TR:TR, and still have one, correct? Were they alike?
What rides (I dont know where the areas are) is the current one near?

Yes, they removed one for TR:TR, and the other (smaller) one remains, rethemed to Wild Thornberry's. It's not really near any other rides, except Rugrat's Runaway Reptar.

The flumes were not alike. The removed one was much higher, but was very slow. The one that remains is not that far off the ground, but is much faster and has three drops (the final big drop, a smaller drop in the middle of the ride, and a very small but effective drop off the first lift).
