Lakemont Park’s amusement rides and related attractions are expected to remain closed this summer while the park operator undertakes improvements. Plans call for removing some of the older rides, with exceptions, to make way for a mini golf course, a volleyball court, a basketball court, a bocce court and an expanded picnic area. Older rides to remain in the park include the Leap the Dips and Skyliner roller coasters, the Lakemont Train, the Tin Lizzy’s Antique Car rides, the paddle boats and the go-karts and Mini-Indy kids go-karts.

It's a cruel world when Dueling Dragons gets scrapped but a Chance Toboggan gets a chance to be sold and reopened elsewhere.
I'll be sad if Lakemont does close for good. I only had the chance to visit the park once, but I enjoyed it.
Having been a quasi-carnie for a few summers (in my 20s -- you know, when FDR was president -- my mother traveled the fair circuit in Michigan, Indiana and Ohio) I am fond of a carnival atmosphere.
I had fun on Skyliner. Especially when I had the fortune to get the last ride at park closing. The op let the train roar through the station and we got a second ride, with the lights off.

Skyliner is/was the highlight of that park for me. The airtime on that thing in certain seats felt borderline dangerous.
After hearing that the park is selling some rides, and their big push for selling "season passes" for their Holiday Lights on the Lake attraction, I am feeling a little more hopeful that the park may reopen next year after all. The biggest reason I heard that the park was not going to reopen was that they had no income for construction. Maybe the sale of rides and whatever they make this holiday season could give them the funds they need to do at least some of what they were planning.
I just can't imagine what that area would be like without Lakemont Park.

With the expansion of Delgrossos, I can't imagine Lakemont getting much business.
