We left our house around midnight last Monday. We arrived in the Bristol, CT area around 5 am looking for a motel. The exit for Lake Compounce only has 2 motels and the were all booked. We took the next exit and got our room to rest before hitting the park.
We got to LC around 1pm. Not many people in the park. Our first ride was the Wildcat. Not a bad coaster the back was a little rough but fun. The second fan turn is pretty good. It even has some air time.
Next was Boulder Dash. About a 10 minute wait with one train running. WOW! This coaster is incredible. The first drop didn't do much for me but the rest of the ride is insanely fast. There are no banked turns on this ride so it has tons of lateals. Air time is great thruout the entire ride. The turnaround at the far end near the Skyride is great. The train just wants to rip from the track. The course has more hills giving more air and a section of trick track. I don't know why CCI puts the trick track in, it doesn't really give any effect since the train is going so fast. Maybe if it was banked more and went form one side to another. Anyway Boulder Dash is incrdible the way it is. We were even getting away with two or three clicks on the lapbars and loose seatbelts.
We then hit the Zoomerang. Wow another Boomerang for the track record. What is it with the Kennywood corp. making you remove all earings on coasters with OTSR.
One thing we bought which I thought was a cool souviner was a leftover piece of Boulder Dash wood. For 5 bucks what the heck.
The next day we woke up to rain and decided to make slight detour from SFNE and go to Quassy since it was only 20 minutes away. We got to Quassy and they were closed due to the weather. Off to SFNE.
We got there around 12:30 rain. Needless to say it rained all day so all our rides were wet. We waited in line for S:ROS for about a half hour. It wasn't open yet but they were running an empty train. We showed our Six Flag passes and got in for alf price.I'll save the Comet for last. Nightmare an indoor Jet Star with only 2 trains only loading 2 people per car. I wasn't on one of these since Knoebels sold theirs to Mooreys Pier. The wait was the longest of all the coasters at Great Escape over an hour. This one seemed rougher than the one Knoebels had. I think less padding on the sides of the car was the problem here. Knoebels also ran at least 6 or 7 cars and could seat 4 people per car. The nightmare here was the wait.
Steamin' Deamon an old Arrow a loop and 2 corkscrews. It was ok not a great looper just average.

Alpine Bobsled was cool. This one is more like Disaster Transport than Avalanche at PKD. Is this thing loud. You can hear it thru the entire park. Sounds like thunder. It picks up speed on the course but there are many braking areas along the way to slow it down. Fun but could be better with less brakes. I also heard from an employee that it was down most of the year because they had complaints for locals about the noise. The park had been putting soundproofing material on the outside of the trough. He told us its alot quieter than before but it still rumbles.
The Comet was exellent. This is everything the Phoenix at Knoebels isn't. It has air time but not as good as Phoenixes 1-3. The Comets turnarounds are much faster as well. This is the best Schmeck design I've ridden out of Phoenix (KG),Thunderhawk(DP), Comet (HP)(GE). Unfortunately we didn't know they shut down the area the Comet was in at 6pm. I hate Six Flags policies. The rest of the park was open until 8. We thought the blue train ran better than red.
The next day we then drove back to Quassy to get on their 2 coasters.
The Mad Mouse is an old Monster Mouse. I was on one of these at defunct Rocky Glenn in Moosic, PA and terrified me.
