The folks I was with, all LC regulars for the most part, all figured out that we should ride a good ride that has bad capacity and thus later in the day would have long lines. So...
Ghost Hunt: For those of you who have never been to The Lake, Ghost Hunt is an indoor haunted house sort of ride, with a twist. You have a little day-glo gun, and you have to shoot at the little blue lights that come up along the course. Of course, it is all competition as you are in a seat with another person beside you, and scores are kept right in front of your faces. This was extremely fun, even though I lost to my ex-boyfriend, never a good feeling you know, hehe.

Boulder Dash: Much of the coaster is hidden, making for a very exciting (but very short, maybe one train) wait in line, looking at the course that winds up a mountain, down the mountain, and then out and back along the mountain. Except, all you could see from the station was part of the up, small part of the down, and part of the out. This coaster, even in the morning before it was properly warmed up, was amazing. Most really fast wooden coasters flop, a la Mean Streak and Son of Beast. Boulder Dash, however, is an exception to this rule. While going 60 mph, it is still able to maintain good forces and manage not to be excruciatingly spine-crushing rough. The airtime on this ride is exquisite, and the visuals are breathtaking. We rode this a few times, and then moved on over to another wooden coaster...
Wildcat: Heeding the warnings from the people I was with, I avoided the wheel seat. We said no, naturally, and she then told us that the park had a corporate buyout. Noticing Chris Lucht's Oc-Boulder-Fest badge (he was the driver, it was his van), she asked if we were part of that coaster group that was at LC. We said yes we were and she genuinely looked like she felt bad as she told us that she turned away some of us earlier also. So we turned around and headed back to Bristol, and decided to find the New England Carousel Museum that we saw advertised. We went to the museum and looked around for an hour and change, and then left to go back to the Lake. When we got back, it had started to drizzle a bit, and we then headed towards the picnic shelter at which we were to gather for the door prize raffle. The raffle went well, although it was a VERY long process as a lot of tickets went unclaimed and there were a lot of prizes. While we were in the picnic shelter, I had the pleasure of watching Chris Murray's Perilous Plunge videos on his camcorder, and let me tell you, that ride looks awesome. After this, we hit a couple of rides again, repeat rides, and basically just messed around until right before time for ERT. Really, the last hour of regular park hours and the hour of ERT blended together for me, as the GP had basically already cleared out because of the steady misting rain in the area. I got many rides on Boulder Dash, and during ERT the ride attendants were practicing the two-click method of checking lap bars. If you don't know this method, use common sense. :o) Needless to say, the airtime was divine, and I learned how to hold up lapbars on that ride pretty easily by the time we were done. The energy in the station was crazy, and I just basically sat in one seat (they ran two trains during ERT, yay for Lake Compounce!) and rode the entire time without getting up. We said yes we were and she genuinely looked like she felt bad as she told us that she turned away some of us earlier also. So we turned around and headed back to Bristol, and decided to find the New England Carousel Museum that we saw advertised. We went to the museum and looked around for an hour and change, and then left to go back to the Lake. When we got back, it had started to drizzle a bit, and we then headed towards the picnic shelter at which we were to gather for the door prize raffle. The raffle went well, although it was a VERY long process as a lot of tickets went unclaimed and there were a lot of prizes. While we were in the picnic shelter, I had the pleasure of watching Chris Murray's Perilous Plunge videos on his camcorder, and let me tell you, that ride looks awesome. After this, we hit a couple of rides again, repeat rides, and basically just messed around until right before time for ERT. Really, the last hour of regular park hours and the hour of ERT blended together for me, as the GP had basically already cleared out because of the steady misting rain in the area. I got many rides on Boulder Dash, and during ERT the ride attendants were practicing the two-click method of checking lap bars. If you don't know this method, use common sense. :o) Needless to say, the airtime was divine, and I learned how to hold up lapbars on that ride pretty easily by the time we were done. The energy in the station was crazy, and I just basically sat in one seat (they ran two trains during ERT, yay for Lake Compounce!) and rode the entire time without getting up. There's no question about it now... I will certainly need to make a trip up there next year, with a stop at Natalie's favorite steel thing. ;)
