Lake Compounce featured in Akron Beacon Journal!!

I dont know if any other Northeastern Ohioans saw this, but in the Sunday paper, there was a big article on Lake Compounce.

It showed the whole story of how they were about to go down the drain in the early 90's, but then Kennywood Corp bought them out. Since Kennywood bought them, they have gone from about to close down....to being a really well run park now.

There was a pretty big picture of BoulderDash that was with the article too. It had a caption stating that the NAPHA voted it as the #1 coaster in the world.

Very very good article and I cut it out it was so good. Coulnt have come at a better time since I wanted to add Compounce to one of our Coaster Trips next year. I'll have to show my mom now.

PS: There was a kool fact how in 1992, the park was closed the whole year except for one day. One day of the year someone opened it up so they could keep the park alive. So it still has the record for longest contiuously operated park.

This park is a classic especially with all the attention it has gotten from Kennywood. It has a great mix of the traditional park and the new expansion/rides. Although, it really is Boulder Dash that has revived this park, its a great signiture ride that has been amassing attention from all over. I imagine the park would be in a very desolate and bleak situation without Boulder Dash and even worse without Kennywood. Big up to kennywood for their accomplishments with the park.
This sounds like the same article that appeared in the Youngstown Vindicator a couple weeks ago.

everything's better with a banjo

Heres the link to the Beacon Journal article. I found it on their site. So you can see if it was in fact the same article.

PS: The article in the paper had a picture of Boulder Dash unlike this one :P

Yeah, it's the same article. I was going to post something when I saw it in the Vindicator but I couldn't find it online.

It's from the Associated Press. I wonder where else it'll show up?

I started out with nothing and still have most of it left.

I saw a small bit about it in the Charlotte Observer.
