I know asking this bunch if visiting a theme park is worth it is like asking a crackhead if they skip a rock but here we go. The park I visit the most is SFGAdventure, but I haven't been there this year. I was planning on squeezing one more visit to somewhere local before the northeast parks close for the season. I have never visited Lake Compounce before and it should be just as convenient to reach as six flags. I know Lake Compounce is a small park but is it a must visit for Boulder Dash? Is it a nice park to walk around? Does it get very crowded during the Halloween time? Any advice for a first time visitor, or have a better suggestion for time of year? Thanks for your responses, this is my first thread.
I Highly recommend Lake Compounce. Yes, Boulder Dash is worth the visit! (Try to go on a rainy day if possible, as rain is ROIDS for Boulder Dash.
In my Top Coaster List only Holiday World's Voyage ranks higher.
The park gets pretty crowded during october due to haunted graveyard which is the best walk through haunt i have done. The rides close at 11pm and the graveyard closes at 12am or 1am depending on crowds. I would try to go on a friday or sunday and get there before the park opens at 5pm. you can buy your haunted graveyard ticket online to get the time slot you want.

I can't speak to crowds and it's been 9 years since I've been to Lake Compounce, but I absolutely loved the place. Good atmosphere, decent food, great setting and of course Boulder Dash (which is top 4 wood for me behind Voyage, Toro and Phoenix). My best non-event rides ever have been on Boulder Dash. In the day it's pretty good. At night, it's incredible. In front at night on the last few trains of the day, (when it's dark and especially after the park starts shutting down) it's nirvana. I can't think of an old-to-me park I'd rather visit than a new-to-me Lake Compounce.

Absolutely go to Lake Compounce. Boulder Dash alone is worth the trip; add to that a wonderful park with great rides and you've got a great time. I would be perfectly happy to score a couple of rides on Boulder Dash and Wildcat and spend the rest of the day meandering around the park.

I second (or third, or fourth, whatever) the notion. Boulder Dash is an amazing ride. Add in the early New England sunsets, cool fall weather, and you've got a perfect night. And LC's Skyride is at least 3 times longer than Knoebels. (Arguable about the views)
Is this a day trip, or part of a longer visit?
Because if you're looking for bang for the buck, a visit to SFNE or SFGA instead would allow you to buy a 2015 season pass at a ridiculously cheap price ($50 and $62 respectively) and get unlimited visits for the rest of this year too.) Basically, it's like paying one day's admission and getting a free pass for next year.
Of course, then you might not get to ride Boulderdash.
If you went on a sunday you could hit SFNE which opens at noon stay for 4hrs and its only a 40min drive to LC to make it for opening at 5pm.

I fully agree with this. A SNFE/LC Combo visit is a great day. Such a great balance of steel and wood.
Also Make sure to ride BD at night at the darkest possible moment. It's in my top 10 during the day, at night it may be no.1.
Thanks for all the feedback. I was planning on going to sfne next year to ride the new wicked cyclone i think I will take your suggestions and hit these two parks together on a sat/sun combo.
I don't need to pile on about Boulder Dash, but it truly is worth a trip in itself. Be sure to check out the chairlift ride, too. With 750 vertical feet and some absolutely stunning views, it's well worth its lengthy ride time. Plus, some of its passages ~75 feet above boulder fields will give even those who consider themselves fearless of heights some pause.
Enjoy your trip!
Parallel lines on a slow decline.
Sfne doesn't start getting crowded until about 3or4pm and if you have a gold pass you get early entry. If you hit Bizarro first and then thunderbolt and sky screamer, you can use the single rider lines on Goliath and pandemonium, and scream. Then you should have no problems riding everything in 4hrs.
