Lagoon Thur 8-22-02

Associated parks:

Since my family and I were on our way back from a week long vacation/drive to Aspen we could only spend a few hours at the park. Somehow I convinced them to stop which surprised me since they really don't get the whole enthusiast thing.

Well we drove up to the parking lot after paying the 6 dollar parking fee a little after opening. While waiting in line to buy tickets a guy gave us a 10 dollar off coupon for all are tickets. That saved us 40 bucks which made out for a good beginning of a fun day.

Entering the park we looked for a park map becuase I had no idea what the layout of the park was. But they don't give out maps so we had to wing it. Our first ride was...

Roller Coaster:

A 1921 John Miller creation. I didn't know much about the ride but it surpassed my expectations. At first glance it doesn't look to appealing and it needs a new paint job badly. But we gave it a chance. We waited about 20 minuted (our longest wait of the day) for a seat near the back. The ride offered some small pops of air on the drops and bunny hops. Overall I was impressed. No its not my favorite woodie but it offers a very fun ride, and good for first time coaster riders. We then made our way to...

Wild Mouse:

This was my third mouse after Phsyco mouse at PGA and the mouse at Valleyfair. At this point I realized that Lagoon doesn't think of very original names for their rides. We waited about 10 minutes for our ride. The first turns of the ride were very good, absolutly no breaks on them. The second-half however was braked, but not to heavily. Overall it was the best mouse I've ridden an I also liked the tunnel you go through. We skipped on the Cliffhanger (didn't want to ride back to Portland soaking wet) and went to...

Colossus the Fire Dragon:

The ride used to operate in German Fairs and was moved to Lagoon in 1984. The ride was a walk on and I was happy to see lap bars only for this Schwarzkopf double looper. Maybe Magic mountain could learn from this a.k.a. Revolution. The ride was very fun and was about what I expected. Also this was my 75th coaster. We next took the Skyride to the other side of the park and went on...

Flying Aces:

This was my first flying eagle type ride and it was cool. I still don't know how to snap though. Oh well, I still had fun and we next went to...

Jet Star 2:

The ride looks very intresting and the bobsled like cars only have seatbelts. The most enjoyable part of the ride was the spiral lift. The first drop was also fun but after that it got sort of painfull. After this ride we went to the...

An S&S triple tower where only two towers run. Honestly I'm pretty scared of drop rides and I usaully pass them up. But I forced my self on to the Rocket. We first did the blast off side which was exciting. Next we did the re-entry side which I found more thrilling. They were both my favorite rides of the day.

Overall I had a fun time in our short visit. The park was clean and the operators did a good job dispatching trains. I wish I had more time at the park to ride some of the flats such as the Samuri and Cliffhanger. All in all I had a great time and I would love to have a park like Lagoon as my homepark.

I'd rather being riding coasters... or playing Halo:)

I'm glad you had a good time at my homepark. =)

I know you didn't have very much time, but it's a shame you didn't get to ride Samurai! It's definitely the best ride in the park. I rode it on the 17th and I must say it's running at it's best. Cliffhanger is also running great this season, too.

I'm so glad you had a good time! I hope you had a good trip to Aspen as well.

Good Times!! Good Times!!
CCI Lives On!!!!

I really wanted to get there this summer, but lack of a driver made it impossible...maybe next summer.

It's cool to see someone form this board visit my homepark, glad you had fun. It's too bad you didn't get on Samurai, that ride rocks. Did you get a chance to stroll through Pioneer Village? It seems like it would be kind of neat for first time visitors.

Hey Gerbaniac, where do you live?

We went through Pioneer Village briefly. We were in a hurry since we had to drive to Boise after the park. Is the waterpark in any good? It looks pretty cool and if I had time I would have liked to visited it.

I'd rather being riding coasters... or playing Halo:)

It's a pretty good waterpark, not the best, but good, the body slides are a blast, tube slides are ok, the river run is fun, and it has a better than average lazy river, with some slight themeing, it's also included with admission price.
