Labor Day

Probably a stupid question, but does Labor Day attract more or less crowds than normal weekends? I've never actually been to a park on Labor Day weekend before, but I'm considering going to CP or KP the Sunday of Labor Day weekend. Anyone got any experiences to pass along?

I've found that Saturdays and Sundays are especially busy when Monday is a holiday, at least at CP. Labor Day itself shouldn't be any worse than a normal Saturday, with crowds dying down around 7 pm when all the families with school children have to get back home. But a great deal depends upon the weather.

The weekend is really crowded, but if you go on Labor Day, the actual holiday, not the weekend, crowds are actually less than a usual weekend. Same goes for Memorial Day.

You know, I heard that same thing about holidays, Raging Rider, and it's not necessarily true. After hearing how "dead" CP is on both Memorial and Labor Days, I've gone on both. I swore I'd never go on another holiday again. It was just like a busy Saturday both times. And both times the weather was really nice.

I went to CP last Labor Day and the place was a virtual ghost town. I thought I actually saw a tumble weed blowing down the main midway. I was also at SFGAm last year on Memorial Day and it was about as busy as a weak Sunday. It was crowded but not overly so. I think Labor Day is the better holiday to go though because many college students are in transit to their schools at that time and the younger ones are getting ready for classes.

Most schools and colleges are already in session by labor day. From the deadness of the board today I would say they are already in session.

All I need is 4.5 million bucks and a half a mile long sliver of land and maybe someone could build me my very own Shivering Timbers. ;)

Yea, there are a few that started already, and almost all others start next Monday (mine included - I can't WAIT to get back to my own apartment ... )

So the weekend before Labor Day is bad eh? Hmm ... well I still might go anyway - coasters aren't the objective of the trip, impressing a certain female is ;)

And that you can do no matter how busy the park is. I've noticed that the longest line seems to still be MF, although I was surprised to read a trip report for this past weekend that indicated lines for both Magnum and Mean Streak.

My personal favorite day is the Thursday before Labor Day.

Yeah that will be Soil Mechanics lab ... wish I could go that day ...

Oh well, lines don't bother me that much - I'm still blown away when there isn't a 45 minute wait for Maggie, hour for Raptor and 1:30 for Millie

I've been trying to figure this out about labor day. I went to SFWoA in 2000 on the sunday before labor day and it was fairly crowded. Last year a friend of mine went on the saturday before labor day and he said it was completely empty. Only thing I could think of is that they had a season pass coupon for 2000.
