La Ronde update

Last week, since its was so nice outside (around 75-80, no clouds in sight), I decided to go take a walk to see La Ronde. Here is what I saw:

Vampire is completed! Station is build and its the now standard SF station, like B:TDK and SUF (not that I'll complain! Its a change from the lack of any roof (the Vekoma corkscrew) and yellow metal roof for Cobra...). The trains are on track and from what I could see, they are grey, with black, blue and yellow. They were working on the electrical system.

Cobra is now green with black supports... Do I smell that the Riddler will move in anytime soon?

The Condor (Huss flat ride) is now yellow, which is a change from its faded and rusty white.

Now... the park entrances: the back entrance is almost redone. They pushed back the turnstiles and cashiers, giving more room inside and its a lot nicer to look at.

The front entrance is beautiful! Its yellow and closely follows Montreal architecture (most notably City Hall). Wow... custom theming from SF! SF must really have big plans for La Ronde. Its a great change from the highway toll booths...

I was checking it out from the Old Port (a nice walk during my lunch hour) and all I can add from my view across the river is that the "Grande Roue" has all the cars on it and they were testing it.

By the way, I noticed on the Six Flags site that La Ronde is included in the "use your pass anywhere" catagory this year. That should be great news but there has been no mention of it on La Ronde's "poor at best" website. Seems I may not have to drive down to Great Escape to get a Six Flags pass.

Is La Monstre still safe or did Six Flags ruin that too?

As of last year The Monster was still amazing... and I haven't seen any cranes near it over the winter. A wild coaster that is highly under valued. And headchoppers all over the place. Once I was in the second to last seat and the women behind be tapped me on the sholder at one point and asked me to put my hands down.
Part of the money invested this year went into continuing the multi-years rebuilding and retracking of Monstre. More sections of it got reworked this winter!

I'm glad to hear that La Ronde's new entrance is first rate. The old entrance was pretty poor.

Hopefully SF will eventually spring for some new trains for Le Monstre.

Thanks for the info Absimillard... I've gotta keep a better eye on things.

As for new trains for the Monster, perhaps a surprise on opening day? Still a while to wait unfortunately...

Is safe a ride op letting the space shot launch with a guys harness completely raised with only the seat belt holding it down at all?...

FYI - I just got an email back from La Ronde. A season pass will be $71.50 Canadian, tax included. For those from the States that is about $45 US.
