La Ronde announces Goliath

La Ronde has announced Goliath, a 175-foot tall B&M speed coaster that will reach 68 mph over more than 4,000 feet of track.

But wait, what does B&M refer to their hypercoasters as?

In one french forum there was a pic denoting that Goliath would have a tunnel after the first drop - it's not in the layout published in the LaRonde website, so I wonder what happened (maybe it said something in the text that I didn't understand)

What a unique coaster... definitely one for airtime-hill lovers!
Looking at the layout makes one seriously wonder how the train would make it back to the station over all these hills.

If there is real airtime all across the hills, it might become a record holder for most airtime on a coaster.

LOL Jophish....considering those pictures are all of *Ragging Bull*, I'd think they'd refer to them as "overbraked monstrosities".

What's in a name anyway... :)

Funny, we've been using mega coaster in lots of publications for all kinds of coasters for many years. Does this mean we have to stop using it now because it is a product name of Intamin. Are all these other terms only to be used to describe Intamin coasters too:

Watch yer mouth RG-dub...;)
Well I watched the video. All it shows is a POV of Nitro. :(

I can't wait to get up to Montreal and ride this thing. It looks great!

B&M rides used to go under different names but they kept changing over time. Their Floorless coaster product used to be called the "Heartline Coaster", and their Hyper-coaster used to be called the "Speed Coaster."

Anyone else having trouble with the park's website? Seems to be loading very, very, very, very, very, very slowly.
I can't get it to load at all. I keep getting "site unavailable" types of messages. They may not have been prepared for the traffic putting info about this coaster on their site is generating.
I love how B&M Hypers are starting to pop up again. The best hyper experience hands down. Along with Intamin.
Here goes the "theory" that all Goliath-coasters feature at least one knock-out helix with sustained high forces.

By looking at the layout I can´t really see if the turnaround will feature some sort of surprise. It looks a little "slow".

But after looking at SFHs Goliath-layout nobody could have guessed that one of the hills would be a Stengel-dive. So maybe there is more to it than meets the eye.

... And Canada still doesn't have a 200-footer.

But I guess this is an improvement ;)*** This post was edited by PNE_man 10/26/2005 11:11:40 PM ***

..wait, since when does B&M have an official website?

La Ronde's web site was always slow. To make matters worse, they obviously didn't prepare their server for major announcement traffic AND they posted a 45 MB file MPEG movie for the public to download. Let's hope their staff is more intelligent when it comes to ride operations. ;)

This time the animators really out-did themselves!
That video looks so much like a hyper-realistic rendition of Nitro that it's almost too difficult to believe it is not actually a video of Nitro.
Which it of course in fact is.
I really like Nitro's tilting hills
(even though I only know them from videos :( )
^These tilting hills are what makes the ride! Especially if you compare it to the very similar Silverstar, which doesn´t have them, but a horrible twisting ascend into the second hill.

Someone says they received an e-mail from La Ronde and it mentions that the first drop would be 70 degrees.
What does the manufacturer have to do with using the term hyper or mega? The term hypercoaster was first used in an ACE publication to denote any coaster over 200 feet in height. It had nothing to do with who manufactured the coaster, or even the style.

I was being sarcastic...

So who wants to take a trip to Canada with me?
I haven't been to La Ronde in 1 1/2 years and I can't quite figure out from the small map on the site where this ride is going to be placed...
