Kuh-No-Eh-Bulls.......KNOEBELS, huh?

It's actually amazing at work all the people that say "Noebels" but then I don't work with and park fans. I guess worse things can happen then getting your name pronounced wrong.

There's a ton of strange town names where I live starting with Shamokin, Shenandoah, Schuylkill Haven, Nesquehoning, Susquehanna River. I still get confused with Polish last name they don't sound anything like what they look like.

Ask a German ;-)

Seriously, "Knoebel" seems to be some kind of a German-like pronounced name.
KN-O (like in WH*O*) BULS (like DULL, not BULL)

That's how I pronounce it....

Back to the Kraken...the mispronunciation (Crack-en)probably comes from Clash of the Titans. Most people hadn't heard of the monster until the movie.

Kinda funny that the monster is from Norwegian mythology, but showed up in a movie that was set in Greece.

Does anyone know how the ride is themed? Greek, Norwegian, or simply nautical?

Kraken (Krahh-ken to us, LOL) is themed to a Greek fishing village...
During my visit to Silver Dollar City today. I realized that the audio near the end of Fire in the Hole, where it is supposed to be saying 'fire in the hole' sounds more like 'far in the hole!'
Same with Wildfire. Wal-far

Hmm.... just my notations.

ROYALS!!!

Yeah, that's the all-too-common pronunciation down here in the hick hills of Louisiana, too! ;)

I still have a hard time with that one, Ben. I'll be prepared to be teased endlessly about it in a month.

So in Georgia, is it Lake Win-ah-puh-SOAK-ah or Lake Win-ah-puh-SAWK-ah?

Wyandot Lake is WY-an-dot.

And in case you are traveling through Ohio for any reason, here's a handy guide to American Indian pronunciation:

Cuyahoga: KY-a-HOAG-uh
Olentangy: OL-en-TAN-jee
Scioto: sigh-O-ta

Also, Lancaster is LANK-ass-ter, not LAN-CASTER. And Vienna is VY-ANNA. And Versailles is ver-SAILS. And Lima is LY-ma. And Gallipolis is GAL-a-po-LEASE. Don't ask me....

Don't forget that when you head north to CP and pass a town named Bucyrus, its byoo sigh russ not bucky rus. Also is it Vee kom ah or Veh kom ah?
