Is it just me or does Kraken seem like a florless version of Montu at Busch Gardens Tampa?
Here's the pic:
um no...
Montu: Half spiral drop, vertical loop, immelman, 0-G roll, Batwing, vertical loop, corkscrew.
Kraken: Quarter turn drop, vertical loop, diving loop, 0-G roll, cobra roll, vertical loop, corkscrew.

Im the #1 Canobie Lake Park Fan!!!These are my top 3 coasters:
1. S:RoS @ SFNE 2. Yankee Cannonball 3. Cyclone
They both look like two DIFFERENT awsome rides. Of course there are similarities but their layouts are not the exact same.

Deja Vu in the front seat makes V2 feel like a kiddie ride!
Ah...but Kumba has the dueling corkscrews...Kraken has a second vertical loop. If we were to say that these two are smiliar, then we are saying that all B&M 7 loopers are simlar.

It sure starts out a lot like Kumba. The INSANE 0g roll, great floorless effect in the front, deceptively steep first drop, and a really good layout make this my favorite coaster in Florida. Kumba is second. This ride is soooo rerideable and lots of fun.
Truly an underrated masterpiece!
I wish Kraken was a floorless version of Montu...
it might actually be a decent coaster then.

Without a doubt! Easily the best coaster in Florida.

I'd say while it seems similiar on paper, the rides have completely different feels (And I don't mean Floorless as compared to Invert). I can tell you a straight drop as compared to a curved drop makes a world of a difference. I'd say most who've ridden Kraken would agree that it has one of the best first drops on any of their loopers... Well, at least that's what I would say. Another highlight of the ride for me is the gentle hill just before the tunnel that provides amazing air. For me, it's the perfectly blend of intensity, pacing, and pure airtime that makes this an ideal looper.
"It might actually be a decent coaster then." Everyone's entiteled to their own opinion, but I just think it's sad that an enthusiast can get off a coaster like Kraken and not have enjoyed themself. Unless of course, they happened to have one of those rough rides I keep hearing about but have yet to experience.

Hey guys. I'm back. A little changing of the E-mail address and bam, here i am. Anyways. Yes, these rides are similar in which each element is a relative of the other's. But, the different elements provide two different and thrilling rides.

My two favorite coasters are named Superman.
Johnny describes it best here:
The ride is one of those that everything is compared to because it uses a layout when it is stripped down to its basics is one that a lot of B&M multi-loopers actually use. Vertical Loop - Twisting dive or loop - Camelback - Double Inversion Element - Smaller Loops or Corkscrews. Kraken and Montu also follow this basic layout and Dragon Khan is basically Kumba with an extra Loop but positioned on the ground slightly differently. This is why Kumba is such an important ride.
Kumba is an excellent ride. Each element is well timed and some are very different to those found anywhere else. The ride is also long enough with non inversion elements to keep riders entertained without it slowing up a bit too much. The theming on the ride is alright but is best as you dive into a tunnel. It has however become bumpy with age, although not in a way that makes it unbearable it is still noticeable. It has a similar layout to Kraken and the reason for the difference in mark is because of Kraken being Floorless and a bit more smooth. Overall however it is still a must ride and a great ride at that so if the queue is short make the most of it with some re-rides.

Lake Compounce-So Fresh and So Clean Clean
I LOVE Kraken. It is near flawless in design and the themeing is above average. The first drop is not the tallest or the steepest but is still one of my favorite on a steel coaster. I agree with it being a contender for best coaster in Orlando. I think the underground tunnel into the flat spin and the waterfall is very exciting and is a perfect ending to the ride. Only my opinion.
When I ride it with one of my friends, we yell "Hi Mom!" as we are entering the tunnel. The funny thing is our mothers are not anywhere at the park.

My personal opinion is that all three rides are very distinct when you're riding. Kumba is interesting due to the interlocking corkscrews, and Montu is the best inverted I've been on (mostly thanks to theming and tunnels), but if you weren't impressed by the insanely steep first drop of Kraken, I'd be surprised.
The tunnels near the end have great headchopper effects, and the mist machines made it one of my favorite overall coasters. Kraken really impressed me, particularly with the surprisingly intense back seat ride.
I gotta give props to Kraken -- my second fav coaster in all of Florida and my second fav floorless. The 0-G roll is still the best I've done, and the pacing is awesome.
The finale is wham-bam and intense, I love it! Especially the flatspin on the left side, very abrupt. Also, the lack of trims (in use) on the ride and a forgiving block brake make this spectacular the whole ride through. Can't wait to ride it again.
