CoasterMom, I assume you use Internet Explorer?

If you use a browser other than IE, or email client other than Outlook, you don't have to worry nearly as much about a lot of the security issues that can only happen with them.

Also if you're worried about what spyware you might have installed, get Ad Aware and do a scan.
