Six Flags Magic Mountain Xtreme Guide
Naw, skycoasters are way overdone, and I'm personally against any more pay per ride additions to the Farm. I'd much rather see what little open space is left at the park used for actual new rides and attractions rather than more concessions.
Plus since the space is in Ghost Town, a boardwalk theme, or actually any theme due to a skycoaster's size, wouldn't fit in GT anyway.
What they should do is build a heavily themed replacement Haunted Shack dark ride, or even better extend Calico Mountain to that spot and build an indoor coaster or something. Something that would actually fit into KBF's theme, rather than stripping it away little by little. Theming is what separates KBF from your run of the mill ride parks, and is the heart and soul of the Farm IMO.

since Knott's needs an invert
And why is that?

If the shoe fits, find another one.
Ravenguy, didn't you hear, a park can't be good unless it has an inverted coaster. ;)
There won't be a coaster there. Anyone who has seen the space used for VertiGO would know that there isn't room for anything like that in its current state.
A flat ride or some sort of upcharge would be much more feasible, but probably not until next year.

Don't believe it? Its true. Six Flags Magic Mountain's special zoning rights to the SkyCoaster ride prevented Knott's from building one they had planned for 2001. If you go to the Cedar Fair LP web-site, you can still look up the archive press-release Knott's made for the SkyCoaster ride, but then SFMM stood in the way after plans were made. At first, an agreement was made, but after some media misquoted Knott's General Manager Jack Falfas, Magic Mountain pulled out of the agreement. Therefore, VertiGo was chosen to replace the SkyCoaster plans.

There's the press release that mentions them getting a SkyCoaster.
As far as why they don't have one, I have no idea and won't guess until I see some credible news sources.
It has nothing to do with zoning. The issue is that Skycoaster does from time to time sign non-compete agreements that prevent them from building a ride near another. Similarly, you'll not see an Arrow 4D in SoCal.

LOL, Jeff...I assume you mean *another* Arrow 4D?
If the park asked me [and they didn't] I'd like to see them put in a Vekoma Mad House and call it...drum roll please....

VertiGone was an S&S Absolutely Insane, where three 260-foot "poles" tied to a triangular vehicle launched it nearly 300 feet into the air with compressed air.
Here's a photo of Stan and Sandy Checketts on the vehicle at a trade show.
