Knott's continues to prepare for Xcelerator's opening day

Posted | Contributed by xbombman

Both of Xcelerator's five-car trains are now on the track at Knott's Berry Farm. The station and on-ride photo booth continue to take shape, while the combined structure for the shop and launch mechanism are nearing completion.

The park has also begun regularly testing the ride. So far all of the test runs have been successful.

In other news, Perilous Plunge has also begun testing with the new four-point harnesses. The ride is expected to re-open on Friday.

" put the pedal to the metal " - that rocks!

I like the whole theme for the ride... creative and and well-realized without being tacky.

Nice sign, but where's the cover?! I don't wanna be staring at uncovered neon tubes all summer. That happens at all the parties I go to.

Where's the obligatory shot of the actual restraints for Perilous Plunge?

Coaster131, the sign cover will probably be on in a few days... still under construction! :)

And BTW, in case no one caught it, yesterday ACN put up a video showing Xcelerator's first test runs. Click on the link on the main page to download it!

Why do you need to cover the neon? Talon's sign looks just fine without it.

Don't forget "Operation Graduation" June 1st @ SRM - bring Pat Koch a graduation card! See Coasterbuzz News for details.

Neon lights on coaster signs are better than typical signs, they sould be used more often, and Talon's sign looks fine to me.

Knott's is doing a great job with keeping the park looking nice....SFMM take notes!

This has got to be a record for building a ride! I can't believe how fast this thing was put up! Especially if you include the tear down of Windjammer

the work in the area has been going on since july. not so fast if you ask me, but still brisk.
Naked neon is cool with me, I'm wondering when the big sign is going to be put up. That one looks pretty big. the last I seen, it had the two I-beams angled apart.

That launch is Tight. The tophat is also, the speed it goes over it, ohhhh. I can't wait to ride the beast.

Xcelerator's theming and landscaping are starting to shape up nicely! Is this monstor supposed to open June 6th??? I hope so! I will be riding this beast on June 27th! I can't wait to experience all that airime as you literally "fly" over the top hat! Thank God for Intamin!
