Knott's Berry Farm has started to remove the support structure for the long defunct Parachute Jump attraction. A large crane has appeared on the Xcelerator construction site and has been performing the removal of the Parachute supports.
Montezooma's Revenge has begun a rather drastic paint job... the ride's classic yellow track and supports are being repainted with green track and yellow supports. The station is also being repainted.
Over at the Disneyland Resort, they are continuing rehab projects on Splash Mountain and Space Mountain in Disneyland. Along with the Flik's Fun Fair and Tower of Terror construction projects in California Adventure.

I believe Sky Jump had a major system failure and was removed after it was decided that it would be to costly$$ to reopen.
The opening Supreme Scream had a part in the decision, but if any of you had been to the park just before the ride closed you would have noticed that there was a set of chutes that were already closed for good due to repair costs.

The new RR tracks are already done and the attractions making full circuits. You can see the newly layed tracks in this picture from the update http://www.westcoaster.net/photo.php?img=031602/031602-kbf023-lrg.jpg [The Goose is just coming up on the new section of rails just past that footer].

Mr. Toad, on a side note, when I was a kid, there was a cable car that ran between the entrance and the eastern parking lot. What became of it?

After the RR shops were relocated and the that area redeveloped the cable cars were deemed surplus. They went to various museums, including the one that is now at the Poway Midland RR.
That was my dad's theory, that Supreme Scream took the place of Parachute Jump, and the park didn't need 2 free-fall rides. Does anyone know (if it exists) a video online of Parachute Jump in operation? Also, does another ride like 'Jump exist in the U.S.?
And one last thing... I'm sad to see them take down the "parachute arms" just because it made the Sky Cabin look that much more unique compared to other ones in other parks. *sigh*
