Knott's completes pull-through for Xcelerator

Posted | Contributed by xbombman

The first phase of the testing process on Xcelerator is complete. The ride has been successfully pulled through the entire circuit.

Several palm trees have been planted, while work continues to progress on the structures for the entrance, launch equipment, and on-ride photo booth.

1 question tho... Whats the is the head rest thingy ( my techinical term ) in the middle of the train?

what special purpose does it serve?

Its a head rest, none of the other seats have them yet. 0-80 in 2 seconds...you gotta place your head back on something or riders will get injured.

Those are supposedly going to be the headrests that will be used throughout the train because of the intese launch.

I still thought there were going to be 5 cars to the train. I guess now it's three.

Six Flags Marine World..... Wild Life AND Wild Rides!

They will still have 5 cars. They only use 3 for the pull-through.

I have a question also, do they do pull-through's on all coasters, or is that just an Intamin thing?

So...you can't handle a rollercoaster huh? Well...you ARE the Weakest Link! Goodbye!

I think its just an Intamin thing, but I think more companies should do it.

Most steel coaster makers do pullthroughs.. Arrow, B&M, and Intamin do them I know for sure.

Theme parks will NEVER be the same!

are those things on the lap bars just the plastic wrapping? cause the first time i saw it, it almost looked like fur. cause some cars in the 50s had fur on the steering wheel. if it is fur thatd be sweet. but i think its just the plastic right?

Yes is the plastic. You can see that some are unwraped too.
All companies do pull throughs of their rides. It's a safety measure. What if one park of the track has a greater width than the other parts? That wouldn't be too good to find out on opening day, wouldn't you agree?

They don't want to put people on the ride, and then realize that there are clearance issues.

As well other things, the pull through prevents this. I hear they will start testing very soon, perhaps even tommorow...

Xcelerator-
0-82 in 2.3 seconds! =Wow!

Imagine the damage that could occur if they launched this coaster and something didnt clear properly. By doing a pull through it allows them to check all clearances without risk of damaging the track or cars.

"Well, I wouldn't say I've been MISSING it, Bob."

The theming on the cars is sweeeet!!!! Those are some HOT really hot Rods. I love the retro fins and flames, Knotts did a excellent job with the theming, tt is going to add a lot to the ride. superb job!!!

CCXXV, less than one month......I won't be "missing" work in June - but I sure won't be here, either.....LOL.
I miss Windjammer. Is anybody else with me on this?

I miss Windjammer on behalf of my sister and cousin, cuz somehow they did a mini-marathon and rode it 8 times in a row about 2 years ago. The headbanging I just couldn't handle.

Myself, I'm not complaining much. Once I get back to Cali, I'm gonna be sure to hit KBF!
