Knotts Camp Snoopy, need info.

O.K. I am going to have my daughter for a week in the beginning of March. I was seriously thinking about making the drive up to Bloomington to visit Mall of America and Camp Snoopy. Based on Mapquests site, it says I can make it there in 6 hrs and 30 minutes. With my driving I know I can get there in 5 to 5 1/2 hours. Does anyone think this is worth the trip? I plan on spending about 3 days there. This will also give me a quick park fix during the off season. Any feedback would be appreciated.
Oh, I forgot to mention, my daughter is 6 and loves all types of rides. So base your feedback on her needs more then mine.

I live an hour and a half from the mall, and yes a trip to the Mall of America would definetly be worth the trip. Knott's is geared toward the family and features a great flume and a coaster that your daughter should love (and you won't loathe) in the Ripsaw. I honestly believe she'd have a blast there if you broke up your day between shopping and going on the rides.

There's everything imaginable at the mall. They've got a great Lego store and now they've got an underwater aquarium that's excellent. There's a ton of great shops and simulators throughout the mall. I'd definetly suggest a trip there. If you have any questions just ask randy@parkreviews.com and I should be able to help ya out as I usually go there 9 or 10 times during the year.

Thanks Randy. I just might make the trip now.

Sorry I didn't respond sooner.

Before I bought my house, I lived in Eagan MN and MOA was actually my LOCAL MALL--imagine that! Actually, I hate malls in general, so the novelty wore off in a couple of years. I'm still only 20 minutes away, but another mall is closer.

Anyway, KCS-MOA has one white-knuckle ride (Mighty Axe - a Zamperla Rotoshake), a couple of decent spin-and-spues (Shooting star and a German 'scrambler' of sorts), a world-class flume, an IWERKS simulator, a decent dark ride (Sally GhostBlasters) and a gaggle of family/kiddie stuff. Don't think of Ripsaw as a coaster--think of it as a kiddie choo-choo gone wild. Ride the back row for the most.....intense??....experience.

Visit Tuesday nights from 4 pm-close and purchase the 2-for-1 wristbands. It's cheaper and the park is DEAD. Tumbleweed-rolling-down-the-throughways dead. Did I mention it was really dead on Tuesdays? :)

That scrambler thingy is actually The Tumbler its the exact same Tampico Tumbler that operates at Knott's in California.

It's actually called a Zamperla Roto-shake from what I remember. Just a minor clarification.

At any rate, I went to MOA last year and planned on just riding the coaster an leaving. Well, we did more than that, we plopped down the $21 and got the wristband! It was a heckufalot of fun! There are actually a lot of rides packed into that place. The coaster is neat, the log flume is a blast, the Mighty Axe is one of my fav spin and pukes, the shoot-em-up dark ride was great...I really enjoyed myself there. I don't know if I could do more than one day at Camp Snoopy, but then I didn't go anywhere else in the mall. I guess you could do one day at KCS, then one day browsing the mall, and maybe another at Valleyfair! which is no more than 30min away? VF! has cheap admission too, and pretty cheap season passes. If you went there, you could get a season pass and use it later in the year at Cedar Point.

Just some suggestions.

VF's about 20 mins away. Of course, it's not open until 5/12, but you can still buy passes @ $78 per 48" person. Buy three or more at a time and the price is $70.

While I don't think you'll pass up SFGAM for VF, the passes are fully reciprocal at the other CF amusement parks. So if you plan on taking your kid on MF this summer (with its new 48" height requirement) it might be worth it.

Yeah, I'm assuming VF couldn't put a candle to SFGAM, but its still a great park for its size and with the mall there (Season passes are honored at Camp Snoopy as well) its worth it.

Wait, Randy, only VF! passes are accepted or are any Cedar Fair park passes accepted at KCS? If it's any of them, I'll be pissed I spent my $21 then when I had a CP pass! :)
