Knott's Berry Farm park guide added to Coaster Grotto

Posted | Contributed by Grant

Check out the photos and ride reviews of one of California's oldest theme parks, Knott's Berry Farm.

Included are pictures of Ghostrider and the other coasters, including the defunct Corkscrew.

I don't really agree that KBF "desperately needs a world class steel coaster". I do think they would benefit from one tremendously, but plenty of  great parks survive without big steel coasters. Holiday World comes to mind.

BTW, the big steel IS coming...

I don't understand why "Coaster Grotto" insists on posting reviews as news... doesn't make sence to me!

Oh well,

-Nate

I think it's cheesy how he uses the Boomerang Coast to Coaster logo for KBF's Boomerang, which is just BOOMERANG, without the coast to coaster part. Plus, why does everybody think GhostRider is a twister. It's a double out and back. It think it's because there's so much wood structure that it looks like the ride is twisting inside and out of itself, but all it really does is run between supports.
that is a terrible site. look at the format

sheeesh.

Cedar Piont is nothing with out MF. Come to SFMM and see whats happening. Just give us a Giga coaster and bam. CP out of the pic.

Wow, I guess we cant all be computer geeks.
Nate - probably for the same reason people "insist" of posting news when photos are added to their site!

Goliath the king of Hypers -just what exactly is the problem with the layout of the site?- oh, I know - it's not the same as every other site! At least I can make a site without using ANY web publishers.

Geez, why does everyone have to be so critical.

I like the site a lot, good pictures but not the highest quality out there.  While I don't agree with some of your reviews I respect peoples opinions.  The layout is pretty good and if you don't make it with any web publishers its darn good!  Keep up the good work.  I'll be sure to add your site to my links!

I'm not going to say that Knotts is perfect but...

I take offense to the comment about the staff, especially when compared to Disney. It's not Disney's Berry Farm, so get over it!

Thats kind of evil about re-parking your car every 3 hours. Kind of sounds like a pain, not really worth 7 dollars to keep going in and out of the park...

The best seat in Montezooma's Revenge is in the back, because you get a nice view and a little airtime on the back spike, plus extra time in the loop on the way back. Front is good though..

In an unbiased opinion, the food at Knotts is not that expensive in comparison to some other parks. At Ghost Town Grill, the food is great and the prices are what you would pay at any restraunt outside of a park. Plus the boysenberry punch!

The pictures of Corkscrew are cool, there aren't too many of pictures of that around much anymore...

I actually like the site alot,  I have added it to my favorites and I'm pretty picky. So keep it coming.

I'd agree that the Boardwalk area is a bit bland. They should have kept the 20's theming in that area. Now it's relegated to a small corner by the bumper cars.

The Ghost Town themeing is great because Walter Knott loived ghost towns and in fact restored Calico near Barstow...which is like Knott's but with only 1 ride (choo choo).

Man...I was hoping that this "Hot" news article about KBF would have been some type of major announcement. Dang!

I love Knott's Berry Farm, as do I love this site. I especially like their seasonal festivals. Can anyone say Knott's Sary Farm? Hehe, anyway. I just went to Knott's Scary Farm yesterday. I think this is the only year that I didn't like it. That was because they let TOO MANY PEOPLE in!! I asked one of the gate operators later on in the evening, and she told me that there were somewhere close to 75,000 people in the park. As this does raise profits, is lowers the fun factor. Waiting 2 hours in line for a maze isn't all that fun, believe me. I did ride Vertigo, which was GREAT!! It took about 30 minutes to get on it, but it was well worth it. I recommend it to anybody who isn't affraid of heights. Being shot 320 feet into the air, held only by a small support with nothing to hold onto is a great feeling, especially if you're looking straight down the entire time, as I did. Overall mazes were about a 7/ 10, 10 being the best. Although I didn't ride Ghost Rider, the other rides were about a 9/10. Supreme Scream and Vertigo back to back made it all worth it.
Don't listen to the haters...

The site is cool and well done, regardless of what your opinions of the reviews are.

Did you go to the park on a weekday?  I was wondering if light crowds were common during the week.

SFMM lover, don't go on a saturday.
Simple as that.
You could do every maze in one night if you attended any other day of the week.
Sundays and Thursdays are the best times to go. Walk ons for a few, short lines for everything.
And saturday was crazy. I've never seen the park so crowded- ever...

Yes Chris, I went on a Friday - I think there were more staff than guests.

Anyway, thanks for peoples positive comments. What happened to Stealthmf5m3's comment??? It made me laugh!

Visiting and reviewing as many parks as I do, people are bound to disagree with me, especially when the park I'm reviewing is the only park, or one of a few that they have been to. Some people can't understand why I think a "Boomerang" is as appealing as my neighbor's trashcan!

I did not think that my review of KBF was that harsh, and I actually liked the park, but there was plenty of room for improvement.

The problem with the staff was on the Bigfoot Rapids. While it is their job to instruct people to remain seated and keep their seat belts fastened during the ride; the belts fasten with Velcro and kept coming undone! I do not appreciate being shouted out several times during my ride due to what I consider a design flaw. To add to it, when I mentioned this to the ride op at the station, he simply said "what do you expect me to do". I'm afraid that doesn't cut it. Incidentally, the same thing was happening with the belts to the other people on my raft. We all had a seat to ourselves and it is very easy to move around when you are not sat next to someone.

As for the food being expensive, I usually compare the price of Funnel Cakes, Dippin' Dots, and cans of Coke from the vending machines. I may be wrong, but I remember them ALL being more expensive than at SFMM. But I have better things to do that note down all the prices. Although I remember the cookies outside Ghostrider being $1 each - sheeesh.

Anyway, I'm going to "take cover" - I've just completed my Astroworld review, and it will be online in a few weeks!
