Knott's Berry Farm debuts Xcelerator

Posted | Contributed by James Disney

With almost an entire year since they began deconstruction of the illfated Windjammer, Knott's Berry Farm has unleashed Xcelerator. 2,202 feet of pure intensity and one of the most intense launches on earth. The ride has opened to some extremely positive early reviews.

Wow! Looks and sounds like a great ride after seeing the photos and review on WestCoaster. I hope someday I can head out to California to ride Xcellerator.

*can...not...wait...to...ride...Xcelerator* :)
Rode it on Sat eve. for the first time. The launch was super, and the drop makes you feel like your are coming out of your seat. Great ride! It is a bigger better hypersonic type ride. The wait was only 1:30 hr. Not bad for opening day. Myself and other Acers were anxious to ride. After watching the employees ride Fri nite I had to go back Sat. Kudos to Knotts for giving us acers the opportunity to come back on Sat and enjoy this truely unique and great ride. THANK YOU KNOTTS!!
Awesome pics!!!...Im hoping, another one will pop up soon.

Dayuum, Your HOT!

That was an awesome ride. Even though I got to ride it I'm still mad at Knott's for taking away the 4 hours of ERT on it that we were supposed to have. On Friday night we had to watch the employees ride it. There were a couple hundred ACE'ers crowded around it being taunted by the employees riding. They did give ACE'ers free tickets for Sat. and Sunday though.

This season:
1 park
15 rides

Fun ride. I rode once in the front seat with a Sunday comp ticket, waited about 2 hours but that includes getting in line at Guest relations for the ticket and waiting for the ride to open... a little less than an hour in the actual queue at the start of the day.

Honestly, they should have added a bit more track to this thing, maybe a helix or something. It's over way too quick. 2+ hours in line for a 24 second ride isn't a great ratio. The launch is fun, but didn't particularly feel more powerful than a Premier Rides launch. The hill was great but over in a flash, and you're lucky to get any air on it because the ride ops staple you as if your life depends on it. I'm not talking just pushing down the lap bar, but bearing down with all their weight (this part sucked).

I personally prefer the retrofitted Mr Freeze for a ride of this type, but most folks seemed to really enjoy it.

Helios, then we'd be too close to Arrow's XLR8! Pancake, that's even shorter than I thought. Looks great though, and I'm glad to hear some good reviews. Is it 3 weeks from now yet? ;) How nice it will be having 2 launched coasters to choose from!

Holy s***! You guys gotta check out Robb's video above. I just got the biggest ever case of chills watching the POV over the Top Hat & almost burst in tears in joy. What a brilliant element. Can't wait for an Inline Top Hat, i.e. two half rolls instead of quarter ones.

Think I'd better sign up with CAA. :)

I like Robb & Ellisa's updates. they bring some humor to looking at pictures of theme parks. the video was cool too.
Thx Robb.

I've traded in my 2000 Giovanola for a 2002 Arrow X4D :)
My other car is now an Arrow X4D!

When's the first day it will be broken down?
I hit the first GP train on monday. Little did I know there was still a photo shoot going on. So I got like a 1 hour delay. But other than that, the lines for it were about a half hour all day. Great ride with a four way punch, launch, twist, ejector hill, twist drop. I think the overbanked turns do compliment the beggining of the ride although not nearly as thrilling. Hopefully no one here will have to wait at the main entrance to the queue too long. I swear if I have to see that video one more time I'll go on flashback.
