Knott's Berry Farm cuts ticket prices

Knott's Berry Farm, which has struggled to boost attendance in recent years, is counting on lower ticket prices and cheaper cotton candy to attract more customers. Starting today, the Buena Park venue will cut adult admission 11%, from $45 a ticket to $39.95, the company said Tuesday. The price of cotton candy will be reduced to 25 cents from $2.75.

I love fresh cotton candy, and $.25 is almost free in my book.

I agree that $5.05 is not that drastic of a drop in price, but $39.95 sounds so much better than $45.00.

And after you count all of the closed coasters and oto's (one train opperations) at MM, KBF starts sounding like a great deal.

How much is parking at KBF?

"I'd hate to see Knott's overrun with rowdy, ride tagging teenagers this summer. And with summer discounts, promotions and things, could we actually be paying $30 for Knott's this year? That's insane."

Hmmm..... I've never paid more than $23 for a day at Knott's (except Haunt, which was $30). And I would say most people in SoCal are the same. Almost every major corporation offers the half price tickets for sale to employees, at least around my area, and even if you don't work for one of them, you're neighbor/friend probably does.

Oh, and last I checked, parking was $8.

I think it's awesome Knott's is adding another indoor restaurant inside the park with the world's largest Johnny Rockets restaurant -- but the question is why Johhny Rockets? The park opened up the 1950's themed Coasters restaurant on The Boardwalk in 1999. What's the point of having two 1950's diner themed restaurants not only in the same park, but in the same themed area, with the only thing separating the two being a giant shoot-the-chutes ride?
Dexter and Blaster, according to Knott's site, all-day parking is $9. They also offer free 3-hour parking (with a $3 charge for every extra half hour) for the Chicken Dinner Restaurant, California MarketPlace, Independence Hall, and Fridays.
I'd like to echo the positive sentiments on the 25ยข cotton candy. For starters, I'm pretty sure that it's cheap enough that CF isn't losing money on it. Second, I go to Dorney Park several times a week during the summer (and Knott's 2 days in March). I love cotton candy, but was always in the "No way I'm paying THAT much for it" frame of mind. At 25 cents, I'll most likely buy it every time I'm there. Also, it's not a bad surprise to bring home for my kid sister and/or treating her to it (and one for me, so that'd be 2 in 1 shot!) Add on the perception of value this will create, and I'll probably be a little more free with the wallet on other items.

Now if only they'd follow suit with other food items... :)
