Knott's Berry Farm, 12/4/09, Park was deserted

Hours 10-6, but I was only there from 1-6. This was kind of a last minute decision. I was going to go next week but it is supposed to rain all next week so I went today instead. I was only there for 5 hours, but got on 37 total rides. I walked onto almost everything and many times was able to go again without leaving my seat or only had to switch seats to re-ride. The Ghost Town area had a decent crowd due to the Christmas Crafts Fair, but the "normal" crowd in the rest of the park was as light as any other school day. The Crafts Fair is separate admission and can be visited without paying admission to the rest of the park.

I also renewed my season pass. They have a special going right now for a season pass which includes the rest of this year and expires 12/31/10. The price is only $59.99. Normally the renewal price is $84.99 and a new pass is $114.99. Since parking is $40 for the year the total price was $99.99 instead of the $124.99 I usually pay. They told me that the reason they have the special price right now is that they are going to start selling season passes based on the calendar year, rather than the date you buy your pass like they have before. Since my pass expires in January anyway, it worked out perfectly.

Here is the day in order:

GhostRider: 3 times, walk ons. Row 5 twice then sat near the back. For 2nd and 3rd rides only had to switch rows.

Silver Bullet: 3 times, walk ons. Front row then near the middle twice. Only had to switch rows.

Sierra Sidewinder: 3 times, walk ons. Spun like crazy the 3rd time since I was the only person in the last car.

Montezooma's Revenge: 3 times, walk ons. Only switched rows. Sat near the front twice then near the back.

Jaguar: 3 times, walk ons. Sat in back row twice without leaving my seat then moved to the middle and went again.

La Revolucion: once, walk on.

Wave Swinger: once walk on.

Supreme Scream: 3 times, 1 cycle wait each time.

Wipeout: once, walk on.

Boomerang: twice, walk on then 10 mins.

Pony Express: once, 5 mins. It's here and the line was short. Might as well ride it.

GhostRider: twice, walk ons. Sat near the back both times.

Silver Bullet: twice, walk ons. Sat near the middle both times.

Montezooma's Revenge: twice, walk ons. Sat near the back and didn't have to leave my seat.

Jaguar: once, walk on. Sat in back.

Supreme Scream: once, walk on.

Boomerang: once, walk on. Row 2.

Sierra Sidewinder: once, 10 mins. Sat in back.

Silver Bullet: 3 times, walk ons. Front row then moved back to row 6. For 2nd and 3rd rides I didn't have to leave my seat.

37 total rides: GhostRider-5, Silver Bullet-8, Sierra Sidewinder-4, Montezooma's Revenge-5, Jaguar-4, La Revolucion-1, Wave Swinger-1, Supreme Scream-4, Wipeout-1, Boomerang-3, Pony Express-1

My mother (1946-2009) once asked me why I go to Magic Mountain so much. I said I feel the most alive when I'm on a roller coaster.

Holy cow! well, I guesx you got your money's worth.

Coaster Junkie from NH
I drive in & out of Boston, so I ride coasters to relax!

Sure did! Can't complaint when you average just over 7 rides per hour and get a $25 discount on your season pass on top of it.

Wow, I would have thought you had a CF Platinum Pass. I'm assuming that you don't travel to other CF parks?

Also, how's Xcelerator looking these days? Any gut feelings on when they might get that up and running again?

I can't afford to travel so the CF Platinum Pass wouldn't do me any good.

Xcelerator looked pretty much the same as when I was at KBF in October. There is some kind of wooden brace surrounding the area where the broken fins used to be. The trains have been almost completely dismantled. A large section of track has also been removed from the brake run. According to the rehab schedule on the parks website, it is closed until at least 1/31/10 and as others on this site have said, it will probably be much longer than that.
