Knotts 5-9-10

Plus really, Xcel's the grand mama of all the Rocket coasters. She's a beast, but gets mighty moody :P

We both just loved Sidewinder Sierra! Why is that coaster in Camp Snoopy? We ride that 2x...officially now my fav spin coaster

Well, it's not like the place has a great deal of places to add coasters. :) My son, who is the right age for Camp Snoopy, loved SS.

By the way, if the chicken line is too long, gotta check out Pink's!

^I personally didn't see what the big deal was with Pink's. I tried it, but meh. It's a hotdog :P

Make the drive over to Zankou Chicken on Ball Rd. (5 minutes' drive) instead. I had to make a second visit on my way out to the airport...

And I found Sidewinder significantly impaired from spinning because of al the steep banking. After a few trials (due to the slow day, they were allowing re-rides when no one was waiting for your car/row) - seems like having the weight centered on the side closest to the exit ramp got the best results...but I'd put it below almost any other production model in terms of total spinnage.

You still have Zoidberg.... You ALL have Zoidberg! (V) (;,,;) (V)

With Pinks you have to go to the original location in Hollywood. They have a lot more options(Although personally I prefer Skoobys on Hollywood Blvd)

Thought you went to SFMM aswell, so where is the tripreport(lol)

That's kind of funny, for like most coasters at Knott's, that ride is a first-of-its-kind for the fact that it was the first spinning coaster to have complete freedom of movement through the entire track :P

I,too, think the eyeglasses policy is pretty anal. I agree entirely with Jo. I prefer to see what is happening AND have eye protection. With the history of Intamin's cable launched rides there's no F'n way I'm riding without eye protection. I rode it yrs ago and hated not being able to see. Then eye's bugged the heck out of me most of day because of it. I have no desire to go back to the park now. I would probably get myself kicked out of park.

^^Occasionally you'll find one of the Reverchon-type where "the pin" gets pulled before you engage the lift. Rumor had it that Steel Pier in NJ would do that.

Did get on my first Fabbri "Spinning Madness" ride at Castle Park in Riverside, CA during the SpringCon trip. That had absolute spinning freedom before it ever engaged the (first) lift. I <3 spinning coasters - even though they're admittedly "a little gimmicky". ;)

Here is something else....when I was at SFMM all day yesterday they are all "NO LOOSE ARTICLES" manatory on most of the coasters...I had on my boys cargo pants that were LOADED with all my stuff. However I got to ride every single one of those coasters with my glasses on (no straps) and didnt have an issue with any of them. Even though I was really worried about X-2...but didnt lose them there either.
Maybe someone from Knotts needs to go there and see there isnt a glasses issue...just a thought ;)

^ Now now. Just because Knott's bothers to enforce their policies, unlike SFMM, does not make SFMM better. I personally do not trust coasters with my glasses, so I remove them on everything. But every park has their own policy, and it really is for the safety of the guest and the employees. Do they always make sense? No. But they don't purposely make up policies to make the guests miserable :P

I swear :D

SFMM wasnt not enforcing their policies, apparently glasses are ok-I didnt mean to imply I snuck them on! I didnt hide them-all the ops saw me with them on and didnt say a word. No sneaking involved! :)
Many people had on their sunglasses or glasses as well.

Your eyesight has to be better than mine because without my glasses I am legally blind. Cant see a darn thing!! That is my only complaint about it.

Knott's could learning something from SFMM about letting people ride with jackets tied around their waist too.

My mother (1946-2009) once asked me why I go to Magic Mountain so much. I said I feel the most alive when I'm on a roller coaster.

Holiday Park (home of EGF) might beg to differ.

Hobbes: "What's the point of attaching a number to everything you do?"
Calvin: "If your numbers go up, it means you're having more fun."

^^They have a legitimate reason for no sweaters around the waste. Look up when Jaguar got stuck at the turnaround on the Silver Bullet midway because someone's jacket came loose and jumped under the wheelbase. Stopped the ride :P

Andy, what happened at Holiday Park? I mean, I know about the recent wheel carrier incident, but was there something else?

Tekwardo's avatar

The report was that EGF's incident was caused by a rogue parka/jaket/poncho.

Don't cry because it's over, smile because it happened.

^^^ That's funny to me because Jaguar is the only coaster at Knott's which I have been allowed to ride recently with a jacket tied around my waist.

^Cause the crew didn't catch it or they got lazy. But that's why you can't even wear 'em on Bullet, even though you are perfectly fine, unless the arms of your jacket are suuuuuper long :P
