Knott's......

Hi, I'm going to Six Flags Magic Mountian again and wondering if Knott's is really worth the trip. Gohstrider seems fun and the same thing with Super Scream and Perlouis Plinge, but is there any other reason to go. I'm going sometime in February. Please answer.
Ghostrider is worth the trip alone.  You could also swing by Disney Land if you had the time.
DL and DCA are far better than Knott's if you have never been.

The only problem with going in February (when I usually go) is that the Santa Ana winds are kicking and Supreme Scream, Ghostrider, and Perilous plunge are closed when there are high(er) winds.  Good luck and look at the other thread about this.

Nasai - I've never seen any of those three closed due to high winds.  Rain, yes, but not winds.

Well....I will tell you that it indeed happened to me in February of 1999.  Ghostrider didn't open until 3pm and SS didn't open until 5:30.  Granted, I am speculating with PP, but the assumption of it happenening is obviously pretty great given my previous experience.

I can't see why they would close Ghostrider due to high winds. The other 2 I can sort of see but not Ghostrider but then again a lot of times there are safty things that the public doesn't know about.

Where has the magic gone in the name Disney?

Heck...Monte is worth the trip all by itself! (Gotta love Anton...:))

...and Jaguar! is one funky ride...threading the needle on Monte' is cool, and like . says, Anton ROCKS!  Ghostrider is easily one of my fav woodies.  Good flats, FRIENDLY employess (way older than most park staff, I thought).  Didn't get to try PP (closed), or WindJammer (SBNO).  Do remember to look in the back part of the park, in the woods, or you might mis a coaster back there (like we did).  But we'll be back to KBF this summer - gotta get more Knott's chicken!  oh yeah, Xcelerator looks like a really nice ride too...

Knott's is an awesome park.  Definitely GO!  The atmosphere, good food, short lines, and fun rides are well worth the visit.

NickNickNick, when you ride a Scwarzkopf shuttle-loop, hold your hands up throughout the ride...you won't ask that question ever again!

Rollergator, thats not nice!
You are going to have him thinking he can!

I go to Knotts JUST for Ghostrider alone, Monte,PP and SS are like little bonus rides for going. I often head to Knotts for just a few hrs at the end of the day (when Im in Cali). If you go on a weekday (Knotts is open 7days a week, year round), you can hit all the rides in just a few hrs. If you just want to hit the coasters,SS, and PP, I did it in 2hrs which included 5 laps in GR. There really are NO lines on school days. Also, if you go after 4pm they have reduced admission ($15-$20 depending on the season, Feb should be $15).

My other car is a Giovanola!
Neiller919 (and anyone else going to Knott's and SMM in feb) - When are you going? I'll be there Feb. 28th-March 4th. Might aswell meetup with a few fellow buzzers if its possible, since I'm going solo again.

Well, NickNickNick...Monte is the most re-ridable, rush inducing ride I've ever ridden. The launch feels almost quicker than the launches on Premier coasters, and it is definitely better than the launch on S:TE. For a 35 second ride, you certainly get a great amount of entertainment, especially in the back!

Sprig, you really can....we had almost the whole train doing it at Viper's farewell, the backwards loop is definitely the hardest (and most fun) part...of course, Monte has the added benefit of Jaguar!

Makes me wonder how great it would have been for SFoG to run the B&M flyer through the loop on Viper.....in the prone position, that could have been SCARY!

Agreed by and regarded by almost all coaster enthusiast and ACE members to be the world's best maintained shuttle-loop roller coatser. Once you've ridden it, you'll understand why. It has no return-run braking and the back car almost hits the back spike.

Well, rollergator, you didn't miss out a coaster in the back part of the park. I assume you're talking about the Wild Water Wilderness area which resembles the woods. All that's back there is a restaurant, Mystery Lodge (a great special effects show), Bigfoot Rapids (a water raft ride), and Wilderness Scrambler.

Besides the things I mentioned above, Neiller919, you can enjoy Supreme Scream and GhostRider if it's not in rehab next month. Montezooma's Revenge and Jaguar make a good combination. Jaguar is enjoyable for a family coaster because it provides a nice view and if you catch the flame at the top of the temple and if a Monte train goes through the loop as you thread through it while on the ride. Boomerang is fun IMO if you avoid the headbanging which I've never experienced. Also, Perilous Plunge is rumored to open next month, so if you don't mind getting really soaked in winter, then ride it. Also, the Timber Mountain Log Ride is a classic as well as the Calico Mine Ride. There's a lot of stuff to do even though Knott's only has 4 rollercoasters (5 including the kiddie one). You can take a stroll through the well-themed Ghost Town, catch a show, eat, or ride Knott's wide range of flat rides. Knott's is a great park and shouldn't be missed.
