Knoebels rides still need work, no date set for opening

Two major new rides are still being worked and will not be ready for the public when Knoebels Amusement Resort in Northumberland County, Pa., opens for daily operation this month, kicking off its 85th season. The Flying Turns roller coaster and the Black Diamond, a ride through a simulated coal breaker, still are a work in progress, co-owner Dick Knoebel said. No date has been set for their completion.

Flying Turns will not be ready?

Shocking.

Black Diamond keeps getting pushed back. Bummer.

I was going to move up my annual Knoebels trip but now I guess I will go in August like I always do, and hopefully BD will be open.

Golden Nugget was one of my first coasters so I have a soft spot for this one. It may have been my first, I cant remember it was the GN or the City Jet in OCNJ. I was terrified of coasters as a young lad, but my Grandfather talked me into going on one, then I was hooked. I have a POV of the GN he shot with an old school movie camera around here somewhere.
