Knoebels (future enthusiasts first park) 7/13

Associated parks:
None

I got a phone call around 10am Saturday morning from my Aunt. She brought Curtis, her baby (10 months old) to my Grandmothers house and wanted to take him to Knoebels for the first time. She picked me up shortly after the phone call and we made the long 20 minute drive to the park.

We arrived shortly before opening so we had to wait for the ticket booths to open. After we got our tickets we all made our way to the Pioneer Train (his very first ride). Curtis kept his mouth open the entire time in amazement.

After the train we made our way to the Grand Carousel my Gram rode in a charriot and my Aunt sat Curtis on a moving horse, while I opted for an outside horse to catch rings. After a few revolutions my aunt and baby sat out the rest of the ride with my gram. Curt was busy looking at the mirrors along the inside of the carousel. I took a picture of the three of them sitting in the chariot.

Time for kiddieland Curtis was still too small to ride all of the rides alone and most adults can't ride.We did managed to get on the Panther Cars with his Mom. Every time another car would pass Curt would see it then wonder where it went. I took another picture of the two of them in the cars.

My Gram was getting a little tired so the three of them sat on a bench while I took a lap on the Bumper Cars. This was the first time I ever got a bum car. It would take forever for it to pick up speed with the other cars. I also think that the gas pedal had a bad connection(maybe that was the problem). Oh well.

Curtis was starting to get sleepy and my Gram was starting to get tired as well so we figured it was about time to eat and leave. I did manage to get one lap on the Flyers before we left. :) They are still slower than earlier in the year but I did manage to get a few good snaps.

We ate at the Oasis where they were having barbecued half chickens. We ate the chicken, then on the way out grabbed some of Knoebels ledgendary fires with vinegar and walked to the car.

Although I didn't hit a single coaster I had a fun day watching Curtis go on rides for the first time. Going thru kiddieland my aunt would remind me of all the rides I used to love that I can no longer ride.

I actually think the baby liked watching the rides in motion rather being on them. I'm sure that will change in a few years. Hopefully I'll have a coaster buddy in another 5 or 6 years.:)

Taking a child to their first amusement park is always something you'll remember. They are so amazed by the simplest things, it really puts things in perspective. Conneaut was our daughters first park and she just loved it. We were going to take her to Knoebel's this year but plans changed and now Disney is the destination. Oh well, next year for sure.
