Knoebel's Crowd questions!

A group of friends and I are heading to Knoebel's this weekend. However, we're undecided as to which day to go. Saturday, they're offering all day passes at a reduced rate [$19] and a buy one, get one free deal. This would save us A TON of money. Sunday, it's no-stamps and tickets only. While most of us have a bunch of leftover tickets from last year, going on Sunday would still be considerably more expensive.

So... the question is... what do you think the crowd is going to be like on each day? I was sort of planning the park being dead on Sunday [i.e. no more than a 10 minute wait for Twister running 1 train]. Do you think it would be crowded on Saturday? I don't want to go there and have to wait an hour for the Twister and fifteen minutes for the Phoenix -- the part is only open 6 hours!! What do you guys think would be the better day?

I don't think anybody really has a good ideal. The only factor I would look at is the rain that is forecast for this weekend throughout the east coast. Of course, it may not rain at all. I can't believe you're complaining about waiting 15 minutes for Phoenix, one of the greatest wood coasters in America! That seems like a drop in the bucket compared to the wait for a major coaster at a major park.

The word "definitely" is definitely the most misspelled word on the buzz.

It's not that I mind waiting the 15 minutes as much as I'd like to ride it as many times as possible =). And, yeah, it may only be a "drop in the bucket", but that's why I'm not going to a major park. Besides... a major park is usually open at more than 6 hours. I love Knoebel's and want to maximize my fun there.

I'm actually more concerned about the Twister. I've been to the park many times when the Twister's line was an hour to the Phoenix's ten. I want to get at least one ride on the Twister and waiting a full 45min-1 hour would take up a significant portion of my time there.

Even though weekdays are way less crowded, weekends can still sometimes be slow in the early season. During the summer, the crowds during the weekend seem to be semi-big.

Last year, I went on a Thursday on purpose to get as many rides on the coasters as possible, that was a great idea! I got 20+ rides on Phoenix, 10+ rides on Twister, a whole bunch of rides on the Whirlwind, and High-Speed Thrill Coaster barely ever seems to get a line even though it is a great ride. Also, Haunted Mansion had no lines at all!

But to sum it up, either go Saturday or on a weekday. I hate constantly buying tickets, I think it is a waste of money even if you have a lot from last year. Don't waste your time with tickets! I did factor in that Sunday may be a little less crowded, but how do you know that Twister will only run one train on Saturday? Go with Saturday, crowds may be bigger, but I just think it is smarter.

Tuesdays are the slowest followed by other midweek days. Weekends are the busiest, but because the rides operate at a higher capacity then, most of the lines move swiftly. you'll avoide crowds the most if you go one a Monday or Thursday, but just know that the rides do not run at as big of a capacity as on the weekend. I'd go on a Monday for best bet.

We're definitely going this weekend. It's not going to be our only visit, I'm sure we'll get there a couple of times on the weekday. I just wasn't sure whether to go on Sat or Sun. It seems like with the cool weather and early season, the $9.50 for an handstamp seems too good to pass up. I doubt the crowds will be too big anyhow. Thanks for the tips.

I am going Saturday, as are many enthusiasts. I'm not expecting a huge crowd, unless it is a miraculous 80 degrees! Knoebels was worth the 6 hour drive both times I have gone, even in July. The POP is definitely my suggestion. What I don't know is how many flats will be going this early in the year.

Wait fifteen minutes for that? I would wait over an hour!
Vertigo is right 100%. That is truly a god of wooden coasters, next to Phoenix of course. But I am very dissapointed it didn't rank higher than it did on the Amusement Today Golden Ticket.

what an red X? thats what I got when I clicked the link lol I sure would wait more than 15 minutes for a red X!! jk (I think its just my computer)

Superdude, LOL! "X" is certainly worth more than a 15 minute wait, though it's not red! :D In this case, hit reload.

Don't forget the GOCC event at Knoebels on Saturday. I don't think the event will add too much to the crowd.

Bill: Even Todd Long is coming up from Florida for the GOCC event at Knoebels! What's YOUR excuse!!? ;)

Poor "excuse" I know, but I've got the week of SRM/CM off, and I also managed the week of CoasterCon, not to mention the DC...*work* trip end of July, and of course PPPPPP (how many P's in PhreezePhest again?). But I really wanted Wild One's 85th, Coaster Celebration, Oc-Boulder-Fest, etc., etc. I'm only 34 and I really need to retire soon!
