Posted | Contributed by coasterpunk

A family of four were injured, none seriously, Friday night after a tree at their camp site in Knoebels Campground was struck by lightning. The incident occurred at about 6 p.m. while the family was at their tent. The father was holding one of his children when lightning from a passing thunderstorm struck a nearby tree. The lighting reportedly passed from the tree into the man’s shoulder.

What an unfortunate accident. I sincerely hope that the family is ok (as it sounds like they will be.)

It's good to hear there were no serious injuries. This is why Greg-the-city-boy doesn't camp...

"Another visitor. Stay a while. Stay FOREVER!"

This is so horrible. First the man falling from the chairlift and now this. My prayers go out to the family of the campers and thank God that there were no serious injuries.
This is freaky too, Friday was my first time at Knoebels and we left at about 5pm. On the road though, heading back towards Ohio we were hit hard by storms w/ large gusts of wind and hail, and the lightning seemed as if it were striking no more than 100yds from the highway.

My prayers are with the family.
