This past Tuesday the local kids started school making Knoebels a virtual ghost town. It was a perfect day partly sunny and mid to upper 70's. When i arrived at the parking lot (field) theer were maybe 2 rows of cars. Totally dead!! I grabbed my Pepsi can so I could get the $3 off the handstamp. The RAD came out to $21.50 with the coaster option. I still had a few minutes untill the rides opened at 11 so I strolled to Twister.
Twister opened on time as usual. In the morning she runs a bit slow but by early afternoon she's all warmed up. As I was in line I was thinking to myself I probably didn't ride in every single seat yet so today was the day. I started with the back seat and slowly worked my way forward. I checked my watch I was their for about 45 minutes and already had 6 or 7 rides. Twister was walk on the entire day except for the first and last seats, they were only 4 train or less wait. After getting half way thru the seats I figured I need a change of pace.
Flyers were next. Yet another walk on. I wish every park ran their flying scooters like this (FLYING)! I got my usual cable snapping in in a few quick rerides and went to the Bumper cars. The good old auto scooters had a two time wait still not bad since they had half the cars parked. They usually have two people running these when their is a single car and noone in line wants it the one op takes it. He nailed me good a few times I THOUGHT MY CAR WAS GOING TO FLIP! I did two quick runs then hit the Grand Carousel. Yet another walk on. :) I saddled up on an outside horse so I could catch the rings. I did good grabbing the ring on my first run. For people who don't know about catching rings: After the carousel is running at full speed they send and arm out from the outside of the building. When extended you stick out your pointer finger and try to grab rins on each pass. The one op stood leaning out of the station and we all have him hi fives going up the dark lift. The Phoenix is great at night with lights but is INSANE in the total darkness. It just seems faster and delivers more air in pitch black.
In all I must have gotten 60 or more rides between the Phoenix and Twister today. :) Oh yea I did one lap on the Whirlwind too. I love Knoebels I'm really looking forward to the Phunfest.

Great report Dan! I would have loved to take a day off and met you there. But, we'll have to wait until next summer. School has started and teaching is the priority. Probably, next June, we will meet you and Shelly at the park. I cannot wait to ride Phoenix. Take Care.
