Knex-LIM

Hey guys!!!!!!!!!I have over 5,000 Knex pieces. I made an amusement park in my basement. It includes a sky tour, scrambled eggs, train, merry-go-round, ejection seat, and a 1st generation freefall type ride. I have the knex roller coaster but I thought it would be kooler to have a lot of stuff instead of just a few things.

...LOL...Nick all yoov ever modeled is knex, what are you talking about."

i beg to differ, ive been trying alot of different materials, not just knex. Just because i have only really been proud of my knex models doesnt mean thats all i do. Ive tried to make alot of different types of coasters.

LOL...you made a turn out of wood nick!
Did you guys get it to work?
Where can you find the knex rollercoaster? I have looked everywhere but havent been about to find it.
Here's the Rollercoaster from the Knex site; http://catalog.knex.com/cgi-bin/knex/63030 *** This post was edited by Taipan on 5/24/2001. ***
No, it didnt work. Were probly gonna tear it down.
Awwww...
yeah, we tried rubber bands, but it only went like a third of the way up the incline.
Yup I tried to make a superman kind of ride, but the cars didn't shot down the track to the vertical tower, The rubber bands just wasn't strong enough! I'm going to try and find a way to make this darn thing work! :) I will post some pictures up for you all when I complete the track! :) And modify the car!
Wow, I dont even remember making this topic a year ago!

I loved lincoln logs too.
One idea that I've been throwing around, but I have no idea how well it will work, is to attach bar magnets to the train, parallel to the track. Then, take a LONG piece of wire, and wrap it around a pencil or other pipe many many many many times (up and down the thing, but make sure it's all wound in the same direction). Attach this long tube of wire to the track in the launch section as close to the magnets on the cars as possible, without any clearance issues.

Now, in theory, if you run DC current through the wire (you might want to hack a AC/DC power supply for this) and you have enough windings, enough current, and strong enough magnets, your train will go shooting off. I'm pretty sure you want insulated wire or it'll short, but I seem to remember doing this in middle school with uninsulated wire...

Of course, this is all theoretical, and I have no idea how well it'll work in practice. Maybe I'll try it over the summer.

AC?, RB?, MF?, DD?, PR? Who can keep track of it all?

I don't think that would happen. It would require much to many magnets, it would rip the framing apart.

Texas Coasters... wow I'm lucky... IM me if you feel like talking about coasters.

Me and my friend got one with magents working, I will try to post them up ASAP. We used the Screamin Serpent set made a mock S:TE put magnets in the middle of the track all South. Then we put a South magent on the train pushed a little bit and it went but it didnt go up the whole tower. just like S;TE.
