Now, in theory, if you run DC current through the wire (you might want to hack a AC/DC power supply for this) and you have enough windings, enough current, and strong enough magnets, your train will go shooting off. I'm pretty sure you want insulated wire or it'll short, but I seem to remember doing this in middle school with uninsulated wire...
Of course, this is all theoretical, and I have no idea how well it'll work in practice. Maybe I'll try it over the summer.

I don't think that would happen. It would require much to many magnets, it would rip the framing apart.
