K'nex coaster and ferris wheel

Has anyone out there done anything creative with the K'nex (construction toy) roller coaster set or ferris wheel set? I just bought the wheel yesterday, but haven't built it yet.

I recently saw a site where a couple of kids built a 7-foot tall roller coaster with a couple of sets. That is fairly cool!

I have a coaster set and I was going to try to build a model of CP's Demon Drop, but that failed miserably. The elevator system was starting to be a pain. I still have to build the suggested coaster. Wouldn't be a problem if my apartment was a little larger :)

I think with the additional pieces in the wheel, I can build a shuttle looper. Perhaps I'll give that a whirl.

That would depend on the type of shuttle you want to build. You should be able to do a Vekoma Boomerang type lift (winch and hook pull the train up backwards and release) very easily.

A Schwarzkopf style (launch) is a different story. After I gave up on the 1st gen Intamin freefall, my second idea was to build a Superman: The Escape type ride since I already had the track built. Getting the adequate speed to make it through the course will be tough with the parts in the kit. An A size model rocket engine should do the trick :)

I have both the ferris wheel and the coaster, but I havn't done anything creative except I built a tunnel and a station for the coaster.
If you want to build something cool, it is almost impossible due to pieces, size, and design. A car that you make just doesn't weigh enough. I tried to make aDemon Drop with no lift hill, but THAT barely worked.
I have the roller coaster set and have built both suggested coasters. Do any of you know how to fix the weels from moving, mine wobble and I can figure out what to do, it won't make it through the loop, because the weels wobble to too much.??
I have built the model with the loop and i have had the same problem as T.Bupp. It would not make it through the loop. I made my own car, and now it works fine. Just take the car apart until you have wheels, and something holding them on, that seemed to work for me.

What I've done is made what I call a HyperRoller. It's out and back hypercoaster type layout, without the coaster car. I use the Big Ball Machine (BBM) balls on a special track with that orange plastic stuff that the balls roll on. (If you have the bbm set, it is similiar to the part where the balls do a loop)Anayway, I usually build a lift system similar to the bbm, have a major first drop followed by a cammelback, drop, turnaround, and bunny hops. Really fun to design your own layout, it takes a lot of trial and error.

A built a model of Millennium Force's lift hill with the original set. I haven't bought another set yet.

i build a s&s demon drop type of ride. however it was quite difficult to properly raise the car to the top. i think my next experiment will be to make a corkscrew!
I have the basic coaster set and I have made some modifications. My current layout has a corkscrew and a VERY banked turn. The car tends to stall out going around the banked turn, but sometimes completes the circuit. The problem with it is the lack of pieces. You can't get too creative with it unless you have multiple sets. (I only have one set)
Secret to getting the car through the loop? Put a little extra weight in/on the car.
