KK vs TTD ( I know...)

Is this for college? As a college professor I would actually reccomend picking an entirely different topic. :) If it's for jr. or sr. high you might be ok.

Good deal then! Best of luck. Just write better than the quote in my sig. I kid you not just a few minutes ago I graded a paper that wasn't a heck of a lot better quality than that. *** Edited 10/17/2006 1:17:59 AM UTC by Peabody***

I just recently got on KK for the first time. I agree on the "gear changes" as it ramps up the speed, but I preferred that to TTD's "gradual" pressure building to the release at top speed. TTD's launch is like being in a pressure cooker that the top blows off, KK's launch is like being in a car that's downshifting ... Launch Winner: KK

Over the top, there's really no difference, if the wind's not blowing, they both go flying over the top, if the wind blows, they both fall back down. Winner: Push

Ending on KK was insanely rough and "rattly" although it happened so fast I didn't even realize how badly I was hurting and how beat up I felt until I was getting off the ride in the station. The "airtime" hill was not even noticable and didn't do anything. Give me TTD's butter-smooth glide to a simple stop with enough of a flat run-out to enjoy the speed for a few split seconds. Winner: TTD

So that's a 1-1-1 so you know which is the better? Storm Runner.

You're teaching Elementary Ed now? ;)

Sometimes I think some undergrads are about that level. I had someone get a 9% on a multiple choice test the other day for cryin' out loud! (It wasn't hard either!)

Come on now, what kind of coaster nerds are we?....back to Intamin bashing!! ;) *** Edited 10/17/2006 3:55:04 AM UTC by Peabody***

9% on multiple choice? Statistically, random guessing would get you a much better return (unless you gave them 10 choices).

Patrick - the theoretical capacity of KK is greater than TTD (especially when you consider hold-ups in the station for stupidity), but the actual operations make its capacity poot.

I suggest reading ride reviews and get some feedback. They are both excellent rides and if they were bad rides millions would not have been spent. KK has had more problems, but there an equally great ride. If landscaping and ride placement has made one better then the other for yourself, then so be it.

You should mention that to the folks who spent millions on rides like Goudrix, SFMM's Flashback, any Zamperla Flying Coaster, SFGAdv's Viper, etc.

IMO both are a waist of money. I have ridden both this season with ERT at Coastermania and Coaster Celebration. After 5 straight rides on KK I got a headache from the vibration and my shoulders were black&blue for a week after due to the OTSR. TTD was totally the oposite I rode it 15 times and could have ridden all day much better IMO. Both parks could have gotten alot more for their money if they would have put in different rides.
It's funny how some of us including myself will go through an absolute horrible ride just for a second or two of airtime. We really are coaster nerds. ;)
i would go with Dragster. Kingda ka is an amazing ride, but it needs to have a higher reliability level. Dragster is always open, maintained perfectly and has a faster moving line (which is still pretty slow).

I have not ridden TTD yet (hopefully next year), so this is solely based on KK.

Vibration
I really paid attention to the vibration complaints a few weeks ago. We sat in the second row and I don't remember any bad vibrations. There was some shaking coming over the hill, but nothing bad. Could it be much worse in the back? Based on Storm Runner, I'd say yes.

Horn
What horn? Granted I've ridden both times during Fright Fest (05' as well) so maybe they turn the thing off, or maybe it's been permanently disabled?

The Hill
I do remember last year sitting in the front row and my butt was off the seat the whole way over the hill. This year, I don't remember, but it scares me everytime coming over the hill. It just feels like you're not going to stop. So it may or may not supply airtime, but not being able to see the brakes works for me:)

Capacity
Last year, capacity was awesome. But then again, they were running all four trains, and were publicly announcing when intervals were coming up. This year with two trains, not so good. Let's hope they fix that for next year.

Does it really feel like your not going to stop going over the top-hat.

My word, my heart races thinking about that. I gotta get to CP.

Sometimes I get so mad at people on here because they have been on all the best rides everywhere and I havn't been on any of them. EVER!

NO Nitro, Medussa, TTD, El toro, Talon, StormR, Any batman, Great Bear, Alpengiest.

I MEAN NOTHING.

I suck eh! Please feel bad for me.

:(

Alpie really isn't anything special despite being 195 feet tall.

LOL. Couple weeks ago, I'd have NO idea. Now, I can say that SR was *a little* rougher in the back, but Ka was a little more rougher. ;)

...and considering the speed of Ka's launch, I'm concerned about it's longer-term viability....I strongly suspect that in the next 2-3 years, we'll see more of the extended downtime... :-/

Storm Runner seems like the *vastly improved* version of Xcelerator. Score one for Intamin on perfecting the concept...of the medium-strength launch coaster... :)

LOL...Depends on the waist. My waist wouldn't be worth a damn. Dom Deluise however....

Hey, you're only 23 right? Give it time. It takes a long while to rack-up credits unless you have a lot of time and money. It's also more difficult for you since you live in Canada, but Cedar Point, for example, isn't that far away relatively. Based on RCDB, you're somewhere around 100-200-odd miles away as the crow flies.

Stupid crow. ;)

thanks dude

Let's see, I rode Ka twice at Coaster Celebration earlier this summer and called it quits with a horrible headache.

I rode Dragster 10 times yesterday and only stopped because I wanted to walk over to Millennium Force for a few laps.

The vibration on Ka, both during the launch and then the rest of the ride, are absolutely horrendous. After the first ride, we decided to give it another shot in case it was a train with a bad wheel or something, but that didn't help. I don't know if it's a maintenance issue, a construction issue, or even a restraints issue (Dragster's lap bar doesn't hold you against the seatback leaving you to feel every little shake), but Ka is just krap.
