Kinzel says he and Cedar Fair headquarters will stay in Sandusky

Posted | Contributed by Jeff

While Cedar Fair’s ownership is about to change, many factors will stay the same. Kinzel said he is contracted to stay on as CEO and will have an option to extend his contract if he and the new owners of the company reach an agreement for an extension.

Of course they'll stay in Sandusky! They will stay til the day the move out of Sandusky and at that time, it will be in the best interests of the company, as a whole, to be elsewhere.

I'm sure that announcement will have upbeat hooks with tons of exclamation points.

Or better yet, Apollo will just chuck the Cedar Fair name completely and then move so tricky dick can save face once again. 'i told you CF HQ wasn't going anywhere! It's just no longer open...'

I drive in & out of Boston, so I ride coasters to relax!

As a former Cedar Fair supervisor (not at CP), I couldn't agree more w/ Wahoo Skipper's story and opinion. At one time I held the highest seasonal position you could at my park (Senior Supervisor) in Operations, and there were many circumstances that I encountered upset guests. Most of the time, I was unable to help them, not because I didn't want to, but because I wasn't allowed too.

Over time as my management team changed, this changed as well. It still came from upper management & Sandusky that we were to be as stingy as possible (I actually heard the term "don't give away the farm." as if offering a guest a free sandwich that was probably two hours old anyway was "giving away the farm"), however, my managers often did what they could to help an upset guest. The sad thing is, most of it was done on the down low.

The part of your story about how the guest went through multiple channels until you had to have your directors approval floors me. It was the exact same way at our park. It almost seemed that if a guest wanted anything, they had better chances sending a nasty email or letter than they did talking to an actual person. Ofcourse, this was after they spoke with four separate people about the situation.

Its time for Kinzel to go..along w/ Falfas. From the perspective we had (along w/ my management team) it seemed as if Dick was more of the puppet and Jack was pulling all of the strings. I honestly don't believe that either of them care about anyone other than themselves, and their bonuses. A good friend of mine who is still w/ Cedar Fair lost her sick days, bonus (of course she wasn't told till AFTER she did all the work to maintain it), annual pay raise (which shouldn't be assumed, but trust me they all deserve it), and to top it all off, her Christmas ham.
