Kinzel Interview: Don't know if Jeff covered this?

I don't really know how anyone can ride Dragster for the first time and not say "WOW" getting off the ride.

I was the only one in my group, the first time we rode, who was VERY unimpressed and didn't find it thrilling at all...

... my feelings changed though after going in the front seat...

Why am I being corrected? I meant what I said. The cheapest Bentley I could find was well over 100k, while Jaguars start at 40-ish.

I don't need anyone to speak for me.

Did anyone notice how Kinzel also hinted at the fact of mothers being the ones who bring the kids to the park. He must have some serious stats to prove that one.

That also might explain the marvel of the dragster, as opposed to those riding it. There are alot of people in a day that actually choose to watch it. This might be the point to draw the line for some people. I think he may be hinting that with other places i have heard this from, that the family is targeted. Next year sure looks like the year to really start in a different direction for many parks.

You notice how SFGAdv went to a coaster, but also a family area. So maybe both parks, are going to target families more. Plus he said he plans to also go lighter on the wallets for food and such. If there is truth other than the cotton candy rumor, he could be winning people back, or at least make it more affordable.

Kinzel knows what hes best at, and that is starting back to square one. Unfortunately i think hes missed that point with the Dragster which is not for everyone, but notice how many people would take the other coasters over it, within this thread alone it seems to be proven.

His other record breakers were done possibly the right way, without taking it too far. Ok besides the Millie seatbelt thing. *** Edited 11/11/2005 4:40:28 AM UTC by MagnunBarrel***

Resident Arrow Dynamics Whore

I'm going to take the not Cedar Point, not Six Flags argument to talk about both rides. Hypersonic XLC was built what in 2001? It still breaks down all the damn time. Again, you've got some of the same basic elements--one extremely intense launch, a vertical hill, a bank turn and brakes. I'm not the biggest fan of the ride, but I still ride it when I go to King's Dominion. You can say that you're disappointed in a ride, but is it still bringing in butts through the gates and do people still queue up for it? If the answer is yes, then your investment wasn't that unwise.

I said in my trip report of Great Adventure recently that Kingda Ka, in my opinion, was about as fast as we should ever go on a coaster. I don't think we'll have to worry about too many rides of this nature being built in the future.
