Roller coaster fans, it’s time to make plans to visit Kings Island to say goodbye before the Vortex rides into history Oct. 27, the final day of the fall season.
The Vortex has been a guest favorite since it debuted April 11, 1987 and it is sad to see it go... While it remains popular, the ride has simply reached the end of its service life.

Great Adventure has a similar record with lack of longevity of major coasters. They taken out quite a few big ones too over the years. Trending the same with big Arrow loopers, Togo’s and other one off prototypes that didn’t last the long haul: Chiller, Viper, GASM, Lightning loops, Ultra Twister

I don't mean re-themed like Cedar Point did with Mantis, I mean actually removed the ride.
Magic mountain has lost at least 6: Flashback (née Z-Force at SfoG, Intamin space diver Coaster), psyclone, Deja Vu, the Giant Inverted boomerang, Shockwave Intamin stand-up, Sarajevo bobsled, (those 4 coasters in the same spot), and closed but not totally dismantled yet Green Lantern.
