A book was recently released that covers the history of Kings Island. I highly recommend it.

My understanding is the author is a local high school senior at nearby Mason High School. He interviewed all the important people from the park's beginning to the present. It has some great stories, including how Orion was originally a hyper coaster ("Megabite") planned for Great America that was optioned to KI in 2018. Lots of other great info as well.

The publisher has a website that has some interesting features.

As someone who isn't frequently impressed by theme park internet content, that's a nice website with some fun content. Thanks for the share.

We went to Kings Island several times when I was a kid, and I even had a season pass in 1995 when I lived in Florence, KY but I really don't know much about the park's history. Because of that, the first few chapters that I have read have been interesting. I do like that the author uses a lot of quotes from the key players rather than just giving his perspective on things

And I suppose I have to turn in my card - I never knew where the name Kings Island came from. It seems so obvious now.

Thank you everyone for your kind comments. I'm the author of this book, and I hope everyone enjoys it!

I wasn’t at Kings Island on the first day, but it might’ve been the second. In other words, I have not missed a season since it’s inaugural in 1972 and I feel like I’ve seen it all. Memoirs like this are always so interesting to me, and I love memory-jogging historical photos.

Received my copy Monday, and started reading last night. I am enjoying. I'd recommend.
