Kings Island Advice

Robodud's avatar
I'm going to be venturing out to Kings Island for the first time this thursday. I know some of you really know this park like the back of thier hand. Any advice on must rides? Or better yet, what food is good and around what time should I ride rollercoasters for less of a wait? I am really looking forward to the park, and I'd like to experience as much as I can. Thanks!!

Edit: How is attendence on thursdays?

ride Son of Beast, Flight of Fear, or Beast first because those lines can get a bit long as the day goes on. Personally i would just eat stuff that i could eat while i am walking and go into a line with a bit of a wait so i can eat while waiting in line. Beast is a definite ride at night and that about all i gotta say. have fun when you go you wont be disappointed.
Here is a great plan (practice it myself). It sorta takes ya on a tour of the park, and at the same time gets ya good rides:

1) Head to SOB (action zone, big structure in the back corner)
2) FOF (Coney Mall, just walk down the structure of the Racer)
3) Vortex (coney mall, steel coaster)
5) Beast (Rivertown, out in the woods)
6) If you get the timing right, you should end up at the Beast at or around 11 if you get there at 10. If you have some time, I would go to 7th Portal/Smash Factory in between FOF and Vortex. Eat at Wings Diner if you brought serious cash (there meals are around $10) or if you didnt, hit Skyline right across the street.
7)Reptar
(if your hot)8)Wild Thornberrys River Adventure
This is where you sorta double back on yourself. Hit all the interesting rides b/c in the afternoon the lines sorta go even, not too long but not walk ons. Just double back and hit the coasters that look interesting. If you want to ride Face/off, I would take it first before SOB. With one car, it will have the longest wait of them all.

This is my advice. Take it or leave it cause these rides are the ones with the longest lines

I would go to FoF first. All day on Sat and Sun in late may, SOB was around 20 min.

If Millennium Force doesn't go upside-down, then how could Mantis?
If you like french fries go to Potato Works right by the train in Rivertown pretty close to the Beast :-)

Thats not a bad idea, but you gotta admit, Wings is good, **** good.
If you will notice Force, on his post he is going on a thursday, not on the weekend. Lines are usually short, so you wont have much of a problem.

I was just at King's Island yesterday and I would asvise you to ride Son of Beast first. I waited around 30 minutes and the line was well over an hour the rest of the day. Outer Limits and Beast lines were not bad at all with the Beast around 30 and Outer Limits about 20 minutes. The rest of the rides were virtually walk-ons.
Im going to point this out: You were also there on two rides for tuesday, the offer with the gold pass. That would of course hinder the lines a little bit.

I agree, do FoF very first thing before line piles up, or enter line right before park closing so your wait time doesn't cut into other rides. It seems to have worst wait this year since it is one of the lowest capacity, but very popular coasters.
Do they even have all three trains running yet on SOB? If they run all three they shouldn't have that problem.

I am a roller coaster FIEND!
SOB is still down a train, but the crew is excellent. The Beast and SOB crews are the best there, and although they dont really have any personalities what-so-ever, they are blazingly fast and I have yet to wait on any of the blocks yet this season.

Thanks all!!! You guys rock, I thikn my game plan will start at Action Zone and then move along SOB and clockwise around the park. It sounds like it will be a fun experience for me. I've been going to Cedar Point for so long that I'm starting to get bored with it. Six Flags was alright so really this will be my third theme park that has roller coasters. That's pretty sad for considering myself an enthusiast.

Anywho, thank you so much for all the advice, I'll be sure to write up a trip report for you all!!

Well, if you`re a member of ACE, you can get the first ride on The Beast or Son of Beast. I would recommend Flight of Fearas one of the first rides of the day. But since you are going on a Thursday, crowds should be fairly light. I was up there last thursay and Friday. Thursday I was up there for four hours and rode Son of Beast, Top Gun King, Cobra, Racer, and The Beast three times as well as the log flume, and scrambler. I might be going to PKI tomorrow.
