Kings Island-Sunday Sept 28th 2003

My b/f had mentioned to me he hadn’t been to PKI in 20 years so I decided I just had to play tour guide and show him my home park. When park opened we headed straight for FOF, which we managed 4 flights before moving to the next coaster. The funniest thing all day was listening to him call it "Fear of Flight", "Frightning Flight" anything but the real name. I finally told him just to call it FOF since I would understand that! ;) We did the Racers (frontwards and backwards) Adventureland Express, SOB, Top Gun, Vortex, and The Beast front car, 2x, all by noon! :) By this time the crowd had picked up some what so we could take on the rest of the park out our leisure since we already had all the coasters done. We rode the "Scooby Doo Haunted Mansion." Knowing my b/fs male ego I should have known that was a mistake since I kicked his butt shooting ghouls the 1st time (1200 to like 350) so he insisted we ride it 2 more times, in which I again, kicked his butt :) I made the dire mistake of admitting to him I wasn’t even trying to win either! After having lunch (LaRosa’s pizza-which btw I didn’t enjoy quite as much since I’ve had the CP employee caf pizza) we saw the "Spongebob Squarepants 3-D" show. The fun part of that was trying to explain the whole Spongebob Squarepants thing to my b/f. The show was great and that turned out to be the longest wait of the whole day for us, 45 minutes. I even noticed one of the Halloween scenes back there had one of the characters from the old Haunted Mansion standing there! It was the guy with the thin blue face, I believe in the haunted mansion he was the one the big guy was hanging from the ropes? I think it’s kinda sad I actually noticed that! We took one of those old time photos which was alot of fun except for the fact it was COLD outside and being dressed in a strapless westen dress, no socks, no shoes, and the studio was OUTSIDE I was FREEZING! The pic came out awesome, and I think my Raptor tattoos on my shoulder and calf are a nice touch! :) At 7pm we decided to head back to The Beast where we managed 4 more rides, 2 of which were rerides. We had the last train of the night, and I really had forgotten how much fun The Beast really is, especially at night. I don’t think I’ve ridden it at night since 1988. That coaster really does kick some serious butt (except wth is the deal with the slow climb up the lift hill????) and it is a shame some coasters today (Mean Squeak) can’t handle the speeds and turns like Beast (and even SOB) can, I see very little steel support rigging on that ride and PKI should be very proud of that, and other parks (CP) ashamed their woodies are a piece of crap. I was glad I insisted on front car of SOB, and it was a great ride up there. I had to laugh in every on ride photo since I had on my CP employee jacket. I felt like a traitor! ;) The only downfall to our day was the weather, overcast, windy and cloudy at times, sunny at times and a couple of quick to end rain showers. Towards closing time it was down right COLD-especially when we were riding the Beast! I’m glad I insisted we put on piles of clothes (that’s the Mommy in me!!) because we certainly needed them bad! Our day was awesome, my b/f really liked PKI alot, so much in fact he mentioned we should buy season passes for next season. The drive to and from the park (1.75 hours) was a cake walk compared to CP’s drive, we were home by 10pm :) My neck is feeling the results of FOF and Vortex, but it wouldn’t be a day at ANY park if some part of my body wasn’t hurting! :) Thanks to PKI for a great day! :)

Worst line of the day, "hey-you work on Rapture??"

SO sorry about that! I type my TRs on works then simply cut and paste. Was more concerned about spelling than layout.

What about Drop Zone & Delirium?
Were the lines bad? I'm thinking about driving up there on October 11th from Lexington, and I was wondering if the Halloween events made it too crowded.

You're asking someone who happily dodges Power Tower every season if they rode those? Heck no! Delirium made me sick just watching it and forget Drop Zone-too high for me! I did tell my b/f he was more than welcome to ride them solo and he wouldn't.
We also opted out of "Tomb Raider" due to being forewarned by many that it is a LONG walk and wait to sit in a ride exactly like "Hang Time" at Dorney Park. No thanks!

I'm thinking the crappy weather may have kept some people away but all in all the lines weren't bad at all. The longest wait(s) we had all day was for the Scooby Doo Haunted Mansion, The Runaway Reptar and the Spongebob 3-D show. We had ridden all the coasters by the first 2 hours we were there. FOF wait time got pretty long by days end, Beast and Vortex were walk ons by then. I imagine the park gets pretty busy on Saturdays (like most parks do!) but we had a great time and couldn't have picked a better day!

Yeah, it's easy to get Tomb Raider and Hang Time mixed up. One's only about three times the size of the other! Plus, Hang Time doesn't have any of the cool themeing elements.
